Hands-on? More like finger-on. If you manage to fit two fingers on the itsy-bitsy screen, then it’s even multi-touch. So pointless that it's not even funny...

"The new iPod nano is about showing off touch technology. Multi-touch on a 1.6-inch touchscreen? I can barely fit two fingers on the screen, let alone spread them apart for a multi-touch gesture. The interface is lousy. It slows down the process of finding and playing music. It forces you to look at the screen, to deliberate, and perhaps to enjoy the pretty icons and the rotating screen gesture."

That pretty much sums up the thoughts of everyone I've talked to about the damned thing. It looks great, but the functionality is pretty much borked.

Hell, I'm already pissed off by the capacitive touch buttons on my iAudio 7... can't imagine how annoying a touchscreen would be to me (and I'm a touchscreen fan!).
