i have both the Intel and the OCZ. The performance difference, at least with running virtual ESX servers with their own VMs, is noticeable.

You may want to consider giving the Vertex 2 a shot.

Until SSDs come down to around $1 per gig, they will still be an extravagant luxury or niche item for most people. This is coming from an owner of an Intel 80GB G2 model.

I enjoy the benefits for my 11.6" laptop that I run around with for my work, but it wasn't the game changer that I was hoping it would be and--in retrospect--I'm pretty sure I would never spend the $221 for such a device again. I love the speed, ruggedness and low heat for that application, but I'm going to continue to wait until the prices come down to sane levels before I purchase them on a regular basis for other computers or recommend them to other people. Hybrid drives such as the Seagate's Momentus XT, the 500GB versions which you can find on sale from $100 to $120, seem like a much better buy right now for palpable benefits in regularly used programs over time than an SSD.
