Oculus TV on Oculus Go lets you binge anywhere

Oculus Go is almost like a the middle child of Oculus' other existing VR devices, the full-featured Oculus Rift and the smartphone-powered Samsung Gear VR. The device, which almost resembles a smartphone in terms of specs, tries to offer the mobility of a Gear VR but without the hassles of having to slot in a phone. To make sure that the Oculus Go doesn't get treated like a middle child, the VR pioneer has launched Oculus TV so you can enjoy your video streaming anytime, anywhere, perhaps even when you're not supposed to.

Why would you strap on a headset just to watch videos you can also watch on a large TV or on a smartphone? Unless you own a 180-inch TV and plan to carry that around with you, you'll probably have to resort to virtual reality to get an equivalent immersive experience. Plus, it's also more private and no one will be the wiser about what you're watching.

Oculus TV offers a wide variety of content, both live and on-demand. It's not your full list but, depending on your proclivities, they might be more than enough. There's Hulu and Netflix, for example, but no HBO and, naturally, no Amazon Video. Your sports cravings will be satisfied via MLB Live, Red Bull TV, and, soon, ESPN. Laughs will be provided by SHOWTIME, The Daily Show, and some picks from Facebook Watch. There's almost a show and channel for everyone. That is if your favorite source is included.

Oculus TV will be preinstalled on new Oculus Go units moving forward but it's just as easy to download it on already sold devices. And while the new app lets you watch your shows whenever you feel like it, common sense, safety, health considerations still do apply.
