Oculus holds $1 million competition Mobile VR Jam 2015

Oculus Rift is hosting their own contest for the most innovative virtual reality games, Mobile VR Jam 2015. Oculus is offering $1 million in prize money. With that much money up for grabs, competition is likely to be stiff. If you'd like to enter but would rather not go solo, Oculus can help you search for a development team. Developers should bring their A-game. This level of prize money and recognition could be a career game changer.

If you are interested in competing for the prize, you should get your development team together quickly because there is a strict schedule for the prize. The schedule includes milestones and deadlines. If only one is missed, you will be disqualified. The registration deadline is coming up April 13th, 2015 and the first pitch is due April 20th.

The competition has been split into two tracks. There is a category for VR games and separate category for VF experiences and apps. In the judging criteria, the overall VR experience and innovation in VR mechanics are equally weighted.

Oculus has made a supportive community network for the event. Oculus created the Oculus Developer forum as a place to discuss everything about the VR Jam. People are using it as a place to crowd source solutions and brainstorm new ideas. It looks like Oculus is using this VR Jam 2015 as to draw developers and familiarize them with the new technology. We're excited to see what contestants bring to the table. Winners will be announced in June 2014.
