“The president has called for comprehensive cybersecurity legislation.”

Unfortunately, the word “comphrehensive” in that sentence refers to more “information sharing” which means violating our privacy.

Companies already share cyber-threat information under current law. There is no need for a new cyber-security law for “information sharing.”

We should tell our Senators: don’t pass any cyber-security bill this year.

Any cyber-security bill the Senate passes this year will be merged with CISPA. Obama will be able to sign it and say that he kept his word not to sign “CISPA” exactly in its current form.

Because organizations like ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox News, CNN and MSNBC keep average people from wanting to enter politics by teaching us through example that if you don’t have a perfect background (or the money to hide your blemishes) it WILL be used against you in gotcha ads and interviews.

Congress, according to the founding fathers, is supposed to be made up of average people from every background taking 2-4 year breaks from their normal careers. Farmers, teachers, scientists, soldiers. Average people wouldn’t write laws like SOPA or CISPA. Lawyers and career politicians do.

Both the Democrat party and the Republican party believe they can run your life better than you can. The only difference is how the two groups define “better”.

Cybersecurity is an impossible myth. If people want security with their computer they need first to shield the computer so it doesn’t send out electromagnetism that can be read and then to remove all ability to communicate with other devices, such as by Internet or bluetooth. Anyone who thinks there computer is secure now is self-deluding. Just look at all the government and defense industry websites that have been breached and the low possibility of a company not mishandling your credit card information sometime in your life. It already happened to me twice based on reports from those who have had my credit card data, and that is only in the last five years or so.

Even though I have anti-virus and security software somehow one keyboard logger found its way onto my computer and in the past I have found that in order to catch both old viruses and new viruses I need to scan my computer files periodically with a second virus scanner that realizes no computer viruses ever die.

Computer users trade real security for convenience all of the time, but especially when they use the internet in public places like restaurants, hotels, motels and other places offering free Wi-Fi. Each of us needs to decide how high a price we are willing to pay for conenience vs. security.

To obtain real security the most important computer files need to be encrpted before even being stored on the hard drive of any computer and decrypted on the fly as approved programs read the data. I once was responsible for the security of one computer and its files and I bought a software with optional hardware package that I was not able to easily defeat by the simple expedient of rebooting the computer with a different operating system, which makes mere password protected files easily readable.

Combine CISPA (signed into
law) with the provisions in the NDAA – which Obama said he would veto
and we all know how that turned out.. mix that with the illegal
wiretapping that he has continued to condone (after he said he would put
an end to it)…..add a little of the relaxed FAA restrictions on
drones in the CONUS, and American citizens could theoretically end up in
Gitmo,…remember that place? Obama said he was gonna close it and lied
about that too. Meanwhile, Eric Holder has been lying in state like a
wax mummy over at Justice for the last three years and not one Wall St.
scumbag has been arrested, let alone prosecuted. Obama is worse than Bush – just as inept, and exponentially worse on Civil Liberties
He is mainly Progressivism’s fucking bowling trophy, its ersatz symbol
of its own triumphant politically correct wonderfulness in overcoming
the age old phantoms of race prejudice. Alas, that’s not enough. Where
exactly is the boundary between telling “folks” what they want to hear
and just flat-out fuckin lying?

Reddit can’t do anything without the backing of some industry or corporation. Change people’s minds? Change vote counts on a poll they don’t like? Or even help out someone in need?
