Oakley Thump Pro: an mp3/sunglasses mash-up of questionable taste

Oh crap.  I mean, look at these things.  They're official Oakley's, yes, but they look like flea market knock-offs.  They've got an mp3 player built in, yes, but it maxes out at 1gb and you can't change the earphones.  It all boils down to the fact that the new Oakley Thump Pro DAP sunglasses are unfashionable and technologically backward.  And yet they manage to score an unfathomable 7 out of 10 when reviewed by CNET.  Read on to find out why...

Costing from $249 (for the 256mb pair) to $349 (for the 1gb range-toppers) they can cope with iTunes AAC, MP3, WMA, DRM-enabled WMA, WAV, and MP3 formats; they're both Windows and Mac compatible and they're straightforward to use.  CNET list the negatives as including the price, limited capacity and dubious style.  Personally I'd rather have a pair of normal sunglasses and a separate DAP; that way, when I want more mp3s to come with me, I won't have to throw out my eyewear too.  Obviously they don't come with prescription lenses, either, so they're not much good if you've less than 20/20 vision.

The Oakley Thump Pro sunglasses will be available from November 17th.
