This marketing hype is nothing new here. You may not be able to name one tech company that advertised something exactly the same as real-life experiences in the history. Let alone, it's impossible to do that in an absolute-fair way (scientifically).

I like apple products but this is a marketing ploy "a5x with quad core graphics" the average consumer will be duped into believing this is a quad core chip. Apple went cheap because they know they are going to sell a billion units no matter what they put out. Mark my words the tegra will smoke the a5x in any real benchmark test.

I wondered this too, but I figure most games from developers would probably run at 1024 x 768 instead of 2048 x 1536 to preserve frame rate. I'd rather have higher quality textures, and polygons than retina display on my games. 2048 x 1536 is insane for a small chip like the a5x, not even ps3 and Xbox 360 can go that high.

I will wait
to see how this goes in real world test, but if we look at the numbers Apple have
shown, the new iPad graphics chip is just better than the iPad 2 by “2X” for a
screen resolution that is 4 times greater than the iPad 2. Apple have not given
spec numbers (and they rarely do) of the new graphics but it look like they
just added more cores of the same graphics chip. By this I expect to get the
same performance or less but with better resolution (which is good) but this don’t
give the option to the developers to add more details on games just the same
details at higher resolution. Now if they put this chip on the iPad 2 with its
lower resolution, then there you will get a real performance boost. All this
are just speculations with the information they gave.

You don’t
have to wait that much; 2011 MBP that comes with Intel “i” series (i5, i7) just
have Intel graphics and the 2010 MBP comes with a Intel Core 2 Duo with NVidia
discrete graphics, plus VRAM memory (dedicated video memory), not shared like
the Intel’s graphics. So you can get better graphics performance from a 2010
MBP than a 2011 one, despite the i7 processor.

It's relevant because it was comparing a 1.5Ghz dual core against a 0.8Ghz dual core. I don't know, I was just saying that's probably what he was referring to.

But yes that would be a good comparison, we'll see when the first iPads arrive I guess lol

lol how can suspicions be unfounded? Interesting how you can blindly believe claims that one company makes against another company without publishing the benchmark. Although I prefer apple chip sets, not many people have access to tegra3 chips on a comparable tablet to do an accurate comparison...... do some research.
