This keyboard is awful. I’m loving everything about ics but thIs keyboard just plain sucks. I wish I could get my old thunderbolt keyboard on ics.

They have an open beta, so pretty much anyone with an email address and an android phone can install swype. They are actually better off as the betas get more upgrades than the pre-installs (like Galaxy S2 etc).

Yes you can. You simply have to sign up for the beta on swype’s website and give your phone permissions to install programs from sources other than the market. I’m pretty sure the beta is still open for people to sign up.

it’s not built into android itself. certain phone manufacturers buy licenses for swype, and then package it with android. thus, some phones can never have swype

Because its built into Android itself. Hold down on any text field – choose input method and then select the swype keyboard.

If swype wants to be available to as many android users as possible, why isn’t it in the Android Market?
