Nuance and Ford team to bring natural speech tech to Sync platform

The more recent Ford cars and trucks have some very cool tech inside called Sync that lets the driver make hands free phone calls and control various functions of the audio system with their voice. Ford and Nuance have announced that they are teaming up to make the voice control with Sync even more robust.

Ford will be integrating Nuance's natural speech recognition technology in the Sync platform to allow the driver to control more aspects of the vehicle and entertainment system with their voice. The new system will let drivers enter addresses for the navigation system by speaking the directions. The entertainment system will be voice controlled letting the driver say the music genera and the radio will find the station.

The system will also interface with the Sirius Travel Link system to let the drive say things like "how much does gas cost" and get the answer. The system will be used in cars that Ford sells globally.
