The US version of the Galaxy tab does not have phone functionality. It does have to have a cellular antenna for data but not phone functionality.

Xoom is too costly. I don’t know about LG G-Slate. The main thing with Adam is that we have freedom, unlike the big companies. Buying Adam is like buying a linux box. We can use the most of it and do what ever we want. Secondly, xoom is good only because it has the honeycomb. And Notion Ink promised honeycomb on Adam, so no worries.
