Notion Ink orders open again; Adam skipping Gingerbread for Honeycomb

The second round of Notion Ink Adam orders is kicking off today, and pre-registered would-be-buyers should apparently already be receiving emails. Notion Ink isn't saying how many purchase invites it is sending out – only that it's a "huge" number – but after the payment frustrations the first time around, they're taking a few extra precautions with their ordering process. Meanwhile, CEO Rohan Shravan has confirmed that Adam will not be getting Gingerbread, instead "directly migrating to Honeycomb in future."

As for the missing Android Market absence, Shravan argues that it "is an app store for phone apps" and that since Adam is a tablet it's not appropriate for it. Given that we've already seen apps for the Galaxy Tab in the Market, and that Honeycomb will bring many more, we're not sure that's something most users would agree with; still, there are unofficial ways to add Market support to the slate.

Planning on ordering, or holding off now that you've seen tablets like the Motorola XOOM and T-Mobile LG G-Slate? Let us know in the comments.
