Looking forward to CES 2011, I'm interested to hear people's impressions of the device up-close.

(Also, I'm again surprised by the complaints, these guys seem to be reaching out to the community far more than others would. Sure, their shipping's slow, but would you rather have a product that's as complete as possible, or something that's rushed out the door with lots of badly masked problems?)

I keep hearing developers supposedly have one and yet . . . I don't see any mention from those developers that have an actual working unit. Don't cite NDA's to me. They are worthless for the most part and are almost always bypassed. Can someone link me to anything that proves this item isn't still vapor ?

Troll? Whatever, These guys have been pushing release dates back for over months now... You guys that blindly defend the underdogs just because they have a decent product kill me... No ones arguing that this is a superior tablet... In fact I'd love to order one, but these guys have been pushing product teasers for way too long now. The whole thing just smells foul. When someone points this out you call them a troll? I'm a pretty patient guy, but this is ridiculous.

Yes it's a young engineer... a true "little guy vs. the man" story, thats fine and good and all, some of us really don't care, we just want to buy the damn thing and not have teasers shoved in our face every time we go to slashgear.com... Looking like February before they actually get the thing out, hmm I remember specifically reading articles right here that stated pre-order in Nov... Then Dec... then when they finally did get the pre-order available, well, you order and give them your money and you don't get the product for 2 months? (8 weeks is 2 months btw)...

Oh well, personally I wouldn't care if it just had straight up froyo on it... it's the hardware and the screen I'm looking for, stop already with the freaking "look at our amazing eden and all it's googly goo's"...

Don't even talk about windows 7, it's as if MS didn't even want to compete in the mobile market... until 2 years after the competition already thoroughly trounced them? It's too late for MS now. I'm sure there will be some people that will buy into it, but they waited too long. Just like Notion Ink, if they don't actually get the product out there soon, other manufacturers will fill the void. And who would you rather buy from? A sketchy small time startup or a reputable solid vendor? (yes I'm calling them sketchy due to the nature and history up to this point, It's still for all intents and purposes vaporware, they've demo'd it, but thats about it)

All models have been out of stock for about 10 days I think. Pixel Qi models were out during the preorder the fist few hours from what it looked like. The LCD was available longer and will likely come back in stock a lot faster. It looked like the LCD preorders might be available for a while, but once the videos hit, those got snatched up quick too!

They have provided a lot of information up to this point. If you've actually watched all of the videos, read the blog posts you'll find a pretty complete picture and what's left is trivial. "oh no, we haven't seen the ebook reader in portrait mode..." boohoo. They also didn't demo Angry Birds on it either. Oh no, my view is so incomplete with that critical oversight.

You seem to take issue with something, that it's not on the market. Yes it's NOT on the market yet. There was a preorder, not a full release. They have delivered a more complete product than a few of the big companies. Developers have already received theirs. Where's the HP Slate with Win 7 on it? Dead. What about the ASUS or MSI tablets. Yep we're waiting on those still too. And the Plastic Logic Que?? Dead. How long did Windows take to bring out Win7 Phone?

This has been pretty fast actually when you look at what has been accomplished. Not sure how you'd see it otherwise. They have a nice site, a lot of information in the blog and have stated they will post more marketing videos at CES. A Monumental Failure? Are you trying to attract attention or do you have an axe to grind? What were the main issues really? There were 2. 1. The preorder, again it was a PREORDER (therefore delays expected!) It did not go well for some, but it did for others. Surprise the ones who didn't get one complained the loudest! They were slammed and didn't have their international payment system or their agreements properly formed. And 2, the videos should have been out earlier.

They apologized for the preordering issues, they admitted they wanted th UI to be a surprise at CES, but they also wanted to meet their second deadline promise. Subsequently they put up several videos showing hardware and software. There you go. And from what you saw you feel it looks successful. They are doing what people asked and you and others complain about the dumbest things. Video quality, lack of audio.. In short wanting instant gratification and your personal questions answered. *Rolls eyes and shakes head*

Lastly, the time I've always been shown between pre-order and delivery was about 6-8 weeks. Not 3 months. A young engineer started with the concept and now has an original tablet with original software UI that rivals big names easily, he's got a staff of 90, deals with manufacturers and it's being made for him in China. He's making things happen, sacrificing. Making a tablet that no one else could or would.

Anyone out there can do better? Let's see what you got. Deliver it for us will you, in a way that makes everyone happy? Make it really awesome and perfect and durable and cheap with 20 hr battery and deliver it yesterday ok!

The prices for the pre-orders started above $400 and that was for LCDs. If you got a PIxel Qi with 3G you paid $550 and another %50 to ship. $600 USD. Looks to be a fantastic tablet so far, BUT it remains to be seen whether it will work out financially for them as a competitor to other established companies.
