I’m still waiting for my PixelQi/ Wifi/ 3G to arrive to the US from my 12-2010 order. They just keep sending me automated e-mails stating ‘wait 3-5 business days.’ Had a few of those.

Tracking has stated ‘shipped’ for ~1 month, but no tracking number or further response from the support team from my last 2 e-mails.

I’m beginning to think there is something going wrong behind the scenes that they are not telling me and they still have my $$. Very disappointing.

That second round of funding that they are talking about is themoney that they received from the second round of preorder customers. I will buy a notion ink adam when I see one in an actual store.

I suspect by the time you get your hands on an Adam, Honeycomb will be ported to it. I ordered my Adam in early February. I don’t expect to receive it for at least a couple more weeks. There’s no word on when their next pre-order is happening.

you know some of it is expensive because they can get away with it being gimmicky, but some of the tech still just costs a little more right now and factory mass production isn’t as established in quanity for discounts. Another flaw of Android is what file systems it can read too.

I think the right netbook is a better alternative for people if it has the advantages of a tablet (instant on, a great standby mode, great battery life, good weight, good touch pad.)

Yup, it is shipping. However its only available to those who were invited to pre-order, basically its a huge closed army of beta testers where you have to pay full whack for the adam. They have done a great job in creating an army of rabid fan boys which makes me sad : (

Yes you can turn off eden. Instead you just install your own launcher. google it.

For a full OS you don’t have to rely on a every little update to get the features you want in your device. I want some netflix on the tablet I get. so far, only new qualcomm-based tablets are getting that.

But my biggest argument is that these tablets are $400+ might as well have a full OS for that price.

I love android no doubt, but I do hate how certain android-based software is only applicable to certain hardware. I could have sworn Google believes in openness and flexibility

Teardown parts pricing is one thing, but they pay for R&D, labor, infrastructure, all the shipping, packaging and they kinda want to make a profit and so do all the middlemen.

The tipping point where it becomes a ripoff is the 3G. If a wifi version is 600 and I can get it at the store, it’s not a GREAT price, but it’s not all that bad. The Difference in Wifi and 3G hardware is basically a dollar labor difference and $15 part difference. 3G is a ripoff!

if you want a full OS you’re gonna suffer battery (right now). There have been a massive number of optimizations for tablet OSs. Just because Win7 out of the box has touch screen support doesn’t mean it’s good for tablets.
Why do you think Windows is creating a new tablet OS derivative of Windows 7 mobile.

Most important thing people in USA want is a tablet with no contract with any network , cheap and have 4G wimax chip.
Can play flash,good battery,could download and work all the Apps out there, sd card, connectivity, most things what laptop can do. Adam has a good chance of taking over the market with all these features. Its the worlds first 2nd generation tablet, this should be there selling point. They had dual core in adam years ago before even apple could think of it and was shiped before them. Better screen, more connectivity. Most important its cheap,

The iPad 2 fails for the following reasons
1. 4:3 aspect ration–this isn’t the 80′s
2. iOS–still need a PC for it to work and sync, not flexible, can’t replace a netbook.
3. gimped with low RAM, thus you will have to upgrade to the iPad 3 — keep the upgrade path alive and spend spend spend. . .
4. closed ecosystem. . .

enough said. . . iPad & iPad 2 = FAIL!

It really doesn’t. Key feature missing for me is any kind of additional memory slot – no SD card option at all in the Ipad2 – all that apart from still being locked to Apple’s restrictive ecosystem (as noted above).
And NO ONE ELSE is working on a PixelQi 10″ tablet.

After the shock of the XOOM pricing and Apple’s increasing insular ecosystem I’m probably going to be picking up an Adam.

Question is really do I wait for Honycomb and can I turn off Eden if I don’t want it ?

Yeah, I like the idea of a small operation … but I am not a big fan of the form factor … at all.

A biggle middle finger to Motorola for their unexplainably stupid pricing scheme. It just doesn’t make sense, especially after the tear down pricing was about 350.

They are definitely holding it wrong, and are positioned to fail … while at least Notion has created something unique and innovative that is worth a higher price.

If Apple wants to make junk food, fine great, but if Motorola is trying to compete and set itself apart, plus charge a premium, they need to make it worth while. All they did was throw a better battery and a better screen into a Viewsonic GTab, and they want twice as much money.

So … pissed …

I’d like to buy this instead of the ipad2 but their distribution system just doesn’t seem upto the demand. Adam came to mind immediately when Jobs said some dual core tablets had entered the market but IP2 would be the first to ship in volume.

I’m still nowhere near considering buying one but it is interesting to watch from the outside what is normally done in the months before release. The current people who ordered will probably have realised by now that they are actually beta testers.
If you can run the gingerbread UI and the screens turn out to be better than they look in pictures (both the LCD and PiQi look quite cheap and nasty) I might consider buying one when they reach retailers. The price just can’t be ignored after the xoom inexplicably gained 50 pounds!
