Won’t be able to run Windows. Though there’s been talk of being able to use Ubuntu on it.

I’m not sure they’re offering something other than the Tegra2 SOC which you wont find running Windows. Winmo maybe…

Actually it would be nice if the Adam came with choice of Android/Windows. There are alot of thing people can do with windows that Android can’t. I will be happy with what ever they decided to install on the Adam.

Something that also bothers me is that they keep using the same picture of the Adam with a WINDOWS theme. Not Windows based, but straight up taken from a teme that you can put on your windows machine. This theme does not work with android, so why do people put a picture of the Adam with this on it? Yes it looks cool and conceptey, but I have it on my laptop already and isnt tablet friendly so what is it doing on my adam?

Two things: While I’m following Notion Ink’s efforts very closely, and am encouraged by their takes on the tablet concept, no one wants to see past industry’s concepts without seeing how Notion Ink analysis is going to pay off.

Second, I find it so tiring to sit through a demonstration where the interviewer has so little understanding of the technologies he’s covering (“so where’s the accelerometer?”), and in fact has so little gray matter focused on what the presenter is saying (he’s already said these are PAST – read: existing – concepts. Are you listening?!).

The only reason it wasn’t released earlier this year is the investor they had. Slashgear has it in another article. It woulnd’t have the ui it has now. That was meant for ADAM 2. But since they had the time, they worked on the ui and put it in ADAM. And I haven’t heard anything about Ipad 2 having things like pixel qi.

As for release, it’s going to the FCC in the beginning of November. They can’t release it till after then. Next week, on they’re blog, they are supposed to have pics of one off the production line.

Maybe I’m wrong but they seem like they’re trying to turn a silk purse into a gold plated silk purse. No one wants to see a kludge job that’s released prematurely, but honestly, just release the thing already with an OS that works with smooth multitouch. The display and the form factor are what people are really interested in. Update it quickly to start refining it. That’s the beauty things that are so entirely software driven.

This looks absolutely beautiful, but I’d be happy if this came along in OS v2.0.

“Release early and often. Iterate, iterate, iterate.” Apple will be on iPad 2 before this thing gets out at this rate.
