CC charged now.. Does that mean my Adam all set to be shipped??
As per accounting principles you can charge the moment is product is prepared for a particular customer (not sure if they can do it right when the process of manufacturing started..)
Sometimes for things like furniture, they charge half when the manufacturer starts work and then rest half when the item gets shipped..
Any insights?

Ok... you don't need to post... I have an archos and it's horrible, the hardware specs on this thing blow the ipad and galaxy away.

Sadly, I'm starting to get agitated with all the press releases yet still no way to order one and none even out the door and in the hands of the people that already fell for the "pre-order" debaucle.

I honestly believe that by the time these used car salesmen actually get the thing to their customers there will already be much better alternatives.

It wasn't a slap. They were harrassing NotionInk for weeks to get it, and saw it as vindication of their efforts when they did. AndroidPolice had finally tipped the balance by publishing a fairly dispassionate point-by-point summary of all the various anti-Adam observations made here, @ Engadget, and in the NI comment threads, and that article started getting a lot of traction with people saying "look, you've GOT to respond, this one isn't about projection and emotionalism, it's real stuff."

So NI (Rohan) responded directly to them. I'm sure it annoyed some people, but evidently they felt they had to respond to their most direct critical threat. Plus, it looks like part of the deal was that they would give Rohan a heads-up if they thought it looked fishy in any way.

I think part of the problem with NI is that they are running very lean in certain areas -- particulary in marketing and product management. Larger companies have whole organizations to deal with that stuff -- at NI, I think that's mostly just Rohan. Big lesson for them is that they're going to have to make that transition from everyone-does-everything to a managed company.

I missed your comment earlier, but see mine below. Based on what I know about Eden (admittedly not a lot), I'm going to guess that you can't change the launcher, though I would hope you'd be able to change the color.

Rohan clearly has a very minimalist design aesthetic -- VERY minimalist -- and he's the design director. I think he'd probably think Danish Modern is too elaborate. And I think that's some of what you're reacting to. It's an "anti-iOS" design aesthetic, to some extent. My sense of the standard Android design aesthetic is that it's a compromise between "anything but Apple" and "yes but it must look good or people won't be seen in public with it." Rohan has made statements to the effect that Android is too decorated for his taste.

So, it's just not going to be to everyone's taste. One would hope they'll allow for redecoration, or account for the fact that functionality is trumped by appearance for a lot of people (why Jags had more cachet than BMWs in the 80s, even as BMW was kicking their ass on the road).

It's an interesting looking UI. I think I would like it a great deal. But I'm not sure other people will. Hopefully it will get people thinking about different ways to do things, though.

Also, there are some very ultra-minimalist touches that I think are going to bite them on the ass. E.g., the way notifications are rendered -- it's the sort of design choice that would appeal to an old-school Unix workstation guy, at least from what I can see here and what I've seen in earlier mockups.

They should have simply use the stock Android launcher (I hope the user can configure using that instead of that horrible red thing.

I agree with others here that Slashgear has always been supported of the Adam and should be given future exclusives to anything Adam. I was shocked when android police was sent the video, but then again I look at it as a slap in their face.
Here is the video, SLAP, it does exits, SLAP, we are not vaporware, SLAP, we are not a scam, SLAP. etc etc
While NI may be issuing a video a day, don't expect everything to be revealed until CES. They have to leave a few surprises for that event. I for one, truly believe (even before and during the pre-order problems) that the product will speak for itself and will do quite well in sales.

the first video was quite sucky. But the second one was great :) . The lag that you see in the panel mode is the ui trying to align it so that 3 panels fit the screen perfectly.
Did you guys notice the gmail app could do html emails? Not that you want them ...
I wish that the click to focus on the panels wasnt there it should have been just 1 click to do anything in the app itself. Why the additional touch am not sure.
waiting for pixel qi to be back in stock :)

And what I believe is that NI wants a clean record of Adam on SlashGear and if I'm not wrong all the articles tagged with adam here on SG are positive and the best ones.
I'm following Adam since CES 2010 and I discovered it on Slashgear.
@Vincent please ensure that you guys must get the first hands-on review of Adam at CES 2011. NI is young and banks on other people who care about being creative and think out of box.

The Adam lets you choose whether you want to open an App full screen or in a panel. THe panel system is basically all your apps open for you to either choose or use simultaneously. I think you'd be surprised how easy this is to use.

Also, it's not much saying anyone can use iOS..it doesn't do much to start off with.
