First of all pre-orders are a privilege not a right. If you were too late withpre-ordering (like me) then you’ll just have to wait.
Now to that 100000 number, Rohan said that 100.000/month was the maximum that the production plant could do, but this is of course not the case from the very start…. it’s like you push a button an a month later you have 100000 tablets, supply chains have to ramp up (don’t expect that if you order 100000 terga processors that you will have them the next day) I also doubt that NI has the financial resources to pre-produce at large scale (if an Adam contains 300 usd of components it means they need at least 30million dollars to make 100000 of them)

Hardware is one thing, the audio/video codec plays important role as well.
ADAM has custom MPEG codec to handle 1080 p HD videos.

Forget benchmarks…Can someone in the tech-blogging community press Rohan on the debacle that was the pre-order process and ask him how people will be able to purchase this device? I’ve heard various stories that people’s pre-orders might not ship til Feb and yet Rohan has made mention of the fact that they can produce upwards of 100,000 of these units per month. Their site said “Sold out” — how is that possible?

I believe Adam uses both cores once utilization exceeds either 30% or 50%. A score of 1800 on quadrant is typical for Tegra 2. It is the score of the Viewsonic G Tablet using the latest stock ROM. People reporting scores of 2400-2500 are using modified ROM from the XDA development community. These ROM’s appear to try to maximize performance, while Notion Ink also needs to consider battery life. These ROM’s have very nice UI’s (I really like the look of VEGAN-B), can fix issues with Flash and the market, but void your warranty.

I believe that the Adam is just utilizing one of its cores while being benchmarked. It is handling the benchmark so easily that it has no need to turn on it’s second core. Thats what I think at least.

Actually like mentioned above, the GTablet from Viewsonic is on Android 2.2 and it’s getting consistent 2400+ scores. And that is stock Android 2.2. The difference of course is how EDEN does it’s multitasking – which wont’ be able to be accurately tested until at least Gingerbread but most likely Honeycomb.

Actually no, there’s no link to the mention… it was stated by another poster here that they mentioned it and showed a photo of the Adam at/around the 16-minute mark.

However, I can’t find that mentioned on ANY blog sites, so I’ll have to watch the entire video later tonight to be sure.

The other poster could have been entirely full of sh*t…

People are seeing Quadrant scores of 2400-2500 with the latest firmware on the ViewSonic G-tablet over at XDA. Keep in mind, the G-tablet is running essentially the same SoC (Tegra2) as the Adam but doesn’t have the Eden overlay / processor management.

I don’t have the elocity A7.. but I have been reading extensively about many tablets.. your point is moot, since Quadrant scores for the Viewsonic G (another Tegra2 which also has 1024 X 600) has been reported to also be around 2,400..

I saw that benchmark had done something like cpu rendering, so the score could depend on used resolution too. Your elocity A7 has 800×480, the NI Adam 1024×600. And so on.

BTW the flash performance and 1080p performance are not the results of Notion Inks performance enhancement. They come with the Tegra 2, which has flash accelerated hardware. The fact that they demoed smooth 1080p on a superphone proves it.

So please slashgear you can thank Nvidia for that.

Nvida is doing a demo of the LG Optimus 2x, now that demo is impressive. HDMI output from a phone. They didn’t even mention Notion Ink in there key note, not once.

You guys should benchmark the LG Optimus 2x and compare it to the Adam.

The truth be told, the consumer is the final judge. All the numbers/comments/reviews/ratings are just that. Opinions.

We, the buyers of Adam, will be the final judge. I suspect we will give Adam the “support” it deserves!

They will ship Froyo, with some aspects from both Gingerbread and Honeycomb. However, they were supposed to be updating the Genesis SDK to support Gingerbread, which could mean that some 2.3 libraries have been incorporated?

Their plan seems to be to jump straight to 3.0 once Honeycomb is released, so that they can skip the intermediate stage.

No question Honeycomb will take advantage of Adams dual processing Tegra chip. That will boost Adams performance. Motorola’s prototype should debut this evening with honeycomb on it, but remember it won’t be for sale until Honeycomb is released, and is likely to be tied to carriers to get a price better then the unlocked Adam.

Hopefully we will see benchmark utilities soon that will work properly with the new dual core processors and power management algorithms so that we can see accurate testing results.

Unfortunately we will probably see some manufacturers using these inaccurate test results to claim their tablets are faster than those that have dual core processors, etc. Though it will be easy for people to see which tablets are fastest by picking it up and using it…
