Duh. It would be foolish to completely change their software when so much of their software development (as well as all of their Third Party apps) run on the Android framework.

Because some people need more than 8 hours and it’s inconvenient if you couldn’t or forgot to charge before a trip and don’t have access to a charger until you reach your destination. Never mind the point is to be portable and having to charge while still in use is a negative. Especially if there is other devices that also need to be charged and kept track of all the time.

While also these batteries slowly wear out and user replaceable means you don’t have to send it back to the manufacturer to get the battery replaced and hope it’s still covered under warranty by then.

Mind people who previously used e-ink readers are used to days, weeks, and in some cases even months of use between charges.

Personally owning one of these tablets, the Toshiba Thrive, I think it -should- be the norm rather than the exception, but it’s definitely not even a deciding factor in my mind, just something that happened to come with my tablet.

Why would you need to change the battery? Just recharge it like you do every other device. It’s not like the battery lasts an hour or something – the Nook Tablet’s battery lasts like 8 hours.

then I guess you are never buying a tablet ever. I can count on one hand, hell 3 fingers, the number of tablets that have a user replaceable battery. You can thank Apple for the trend. Jackwagons.
