OK. That was a pro Apple statement. I don't think any of the issues people claiming are a huge deal actually are. The media wants people to read there articles. Apple articles are a slamdunk. It's a very polarizing topic. Hate them or love them, you will click on the link. I'm not some mindless phandroid. I'm well aware of all the major mobile platforms and their pros and cons. And I recommend accordingly based on user skill level, needs and circumstances when people ask for my opinion which is pretty often. I made my sister buy an iPhone 4S when she renewed her contract. It was the best phone for HER. Not everyone in the world. Have a good night.

That reputation is why I bought the TF101 last year. Not being in the U.S., I observed that the only tablet getting updated consistently was the Xoom....IF it was a US Zoom. For everyone else, updates took months. Yet ASUS consistently pushed updates a week or two after Xoom owners in the U.S. got theirs.......and ASUS' updates went out worldwide. That trend has continued since I bought it. My tablet's had updates and additions pretty much on a monthly basis since I bought it....including an ICS upgrade, and we're about to get our second update to ICS. They definitely appear dedicated to keeping their products up to date.

But they do tend to use a very tricky vocabulary when selling these. I was told my Xoom was a Google experience device (basically Nexus for tablets) and after being an early adopter and spending piles of cash on a Xoom the day it came out, they let us know about 6 months later that they actually meant thte WiFi version was the GED. So the version that cost half as much and wasn't available for 6 months after the initial Xoom? For as much as I love it, I hate Android.

The simple answer is Asus is hungry and wants to be top dog. They've been coming out at the right price, right specs, and great support with very little in terms of OEM skinning/bloatware. About the only thing they did wrong was under estimate the demand for the original transformer.

This is why you do your research before buying. If you buy a phone, you either buy a Nexus device or buy a device with an unlocked (or unlockable) boot loader, that you can flash a new ROM into. If you're buying a Tablet, ASUS has a solid history of using virtually stock Android with minimal modification (and those are almost all in the form of practical apps or UI mods that can be disabled). Not only that, theyhave a very good track record of keeping their hardware patched and up to date. It is not accident that the rumors are saying that Google has chosen to partner with them for the release of the first Nexus branded tablet.

Android is fully open-source. It always allows very quick development to occur. Vendors can release updates VERY soon after Google releases the source code.

That's why nearly everyone is still using 18 *MONTH* old OS versions. Even brand new, start-of-the-art hardware is using ancient OS releases.

Google blames it on the vendors.
Vendors blame it all on Google.

Everyone's result? 0
