Nokia World to be split into several "intimate" events

Nokia World is typically a big event for the Finnish smartphone manufacturing, a chance to showcase the latest and greatest developments while making lots of noise. Nokia has posted to the Nokia Conversations blog saying that Nokia World will be scaled back. Instead of a big event once a year, there will be several more "intimate" events held over the course of the year instead.

Nokia say the events should be closer to SXSW and further away from CES in tone. The first of the new events will be held in Helsinki on September 5th and 6th, although it seems to be an invitation only event for carriers and retail partners. The company goes on to say that it wants to detail each event to a specific audience.

That makes sense: the ability to tailor each event will give Nokia some flexibility and avoid a scattershot approach tht one might get at a single event. Still, it might be disappointed for those looking forward to the Nokia World of old. Nokia say that more events will be announced in the coming weeks and months, and we would wager that an event aimed at consumers is lined up.
