Current and announced x86 processors use much more power than ARM, one reason specifically mentioned by Microsoft for porting Windows 8 to the latter architecture. You're suggesting that after years of falling, Intel will announce and ship a new product within 8 months that Nokia will incorporate into a new product using a new touch shell from Microsoft on a new version of Windows that will be competitive out of the box with iOS 5 and Android ICS?

Where has it been confirmed that the tablet will be running off of ARM architecture? As far as I know, no details have been listed, besides the fact that it will have a tablet form, and will have Windows 8. Most of what you've listed seems to be just speculation, unless you have a reliable source stating such?

Recent breakthroughs (smaller pinned processors, 4x ion battery life, etc.) have all been pointing towards minaiturization of what we today consider the 'PC'. Who is to say that a half year (or more realistically a year/2) from now they won't be able to fit x86 architecture into a tablet?

A Windows 8 tablet is an odd concept. Because it's ARM rather than x86, it can't run desktop apps. Because of the large screen and different OS, it can't run Win Phone 7 apps, either. So Microsoft is now pushing HTML5 apps, rather like webOS, but that leaves the whole .NET / C# camp of developers behind. Perhaps the implementation will be better than the concept, but the concept is just... confusing.

The real draw of a Windows 8 tablet is...look, heres a docking keyboard, wait a second, now I have a laptop. Oh, I want to sit on the couch and just browse the web, I don't need my keyboard, let me just pull this tablet off.

Finally there doesn't need to be 2 devices. One can be used to fulfil both. That said, I have a feeling Asus will take it even further with their Padfone concept. Imagine Having a Windows 8 phone, that can be docked with a Windows 8 tablet, that can be turned into a Windows 8 laptop. All of which only requires 1 data plan, and could utilize additional hardware in each step up to improve performance (additional RAM/ hard drive space on the docking keyboard, boosted GPU inside the tablet case, etc.). Expecting somewhat to shovel out $600 for a phone, $500 for a tablet, and then $1000 for a laptop, and then buying data plans for all 3 is ridiculous. You could build something comparable for around $1500 (probably even cheaper, but you know they'll want their moneys worth) and have 1 data plan provide connection to 3G/4G for all the devices.
