That’s not because of the operating system. The operating system itself is released under the Apache License (other than the Linux-based core components, which are under the GNU GPL).

Nokia’s Windows Phones are some the highest rated phones out there. I don’t understand all the hate from fanboys of other OSes. It’s just ridiculous. Nokia is sticking with WP in the long run. Business is about the long run, just give it some bloody time.

I say Nokia should at least consider making one Android phone, it should be a Nexus device since they won’t have to devote resources to tinker with the user interface.

Android is anything but free. There would be a requirement for a licensing deal with Microsoft and potentially with Apple too. Then there would be the lack of marketing muscle for Win products from Microsoft. I really don’t understand why the downer on Win Phone. It’s really fast and fluid, admittedly, I haven’t much experience of anything since S60 Symbian but Android has proved to be far from a free OS. I’m sure Nokia loves more than anyone that in the past 2 years since they made the radical move to WP7:
— Windows Phone has stayed stuck at about 5% marketshare
— Android has gone from about 35% to 75% marketshare

I can’t imagine how they are NOT considering adopting another OS.
