Everytime I look at an HTC phone, I get fascinated. It's beautiful and all until....I see the back cover and it's full of designing bullshit. With all the yellows or reds and kickstand whatsoever, it just feels so cluttered and so on. Nokia is the way to go for sexy non-Apple devices! :)

The last Nokia I had, though Symbian, served me well in its short stay before being replaced by the Nexus One. I love Nokia, in fact I've had more Nokias than HTC phones, of which I have two, and would seriously consider the Windows Phone platform with Nokia on board.

Microsoft already has good, unique, software on its hands, but Windows Phone handsets lack a certain pizazz, a certain X Factor. That's what Nokia brings to the table.

A couple of things. First Symbian is ahead of all competitors in functionality (by miles!), no question (behind on ease of use).

WP7, is ugly(imo) and processor hungry. Yes I've used it. WebOS would have been smarter.

Every single OS will have its development time extend as it gets more feature rich. Product of QA and complication. With the iphone 5 out this Sept how long has it been since the last real iOS phone branch? A year and a half by my count. They were iterating every 6 months or so at one point.

Development time is a function of management and developers

Nokia's plan of divesting engineers to start their own companies (that Nokia effectively owns) is brilliant and may save the company which will have no more than 7 percent of the world.

No one is prepared for how well HP's webOS will do.

No, they're targeting the U.S. market, it's just that reaching the U.S. market adds a delay of a few months.
I think HTC is eagerly anticipating Nokia's entry into the Windows Phone ecosystem - if they aren't, they should be. HTC grew up with Microsoft and its bet on Android was not supposed to be the save-the-company thing it became, just a diversification effort. Now Windows Phone is its diversification effort, but it's floundering. If anything is going to jumpstart consumer - and developer - interest in Windows Phone, it's a series of solid phones with Nokia's brand and global distribution channel. No matter how fast and nimble Nokia gets, HTC is likely to remain faster and nimbler, so it should be able to ride the OS' improved momentum.
