At a recent expo in London, Nokia were busy flaunting their upcoming touchscreen upgrades for the well-used S60 OS.  I’m assuming that the end product won’t involve stroking grass or magic doorbell water, but what it’s looking like is a fair degree of “borrowing” from the iPhone concept.

The current suggestion is that come 2008 Nokia will release a smartphone blessed with a 2.8-inch touchscreen and haptic, physical feedback.  Although many of the media sharing and internet features will be similar to those on the iPhone, Nokia’s partnerships with other cellphone manufacturers who also use the S60 OS may give them an edge, as will their dedication to latest-gen technology such as HSDPA and GPS as seen in the N95.
