I don't think this is a desperate move by Nokia at all. This data connectivity issue doesn't affect all of their phones, but they still give out compensation to all customers. I think they are being very generous. In fact, I heard many people now want to buy the phone even more to take advantage of this discount.
BTW, read the link provided in this article and you will see how awesome Nokia reps are in answering questions and how happy Nokia customers are.

This is software shipped for ATT devices.

But thanks for being the knuckleheads you are.

And no Benjitek, the fake wanna be teks would not consider something that works better and services that work better... they are fanbois that dont know anything and have ego invested in their phones but no investments in brains.

I for one am impressed with how Nokia has handled this. Issue reported, issue confirmed, fix in the works to be pushed in a week. After watching complaints over the years for Android and iPhone products and the responses from OEMs, this has got to be the fastest turnaround and the most honest.

I don't own a Nokia phone, and I'll never be an AT&T customer, but if this is how Nokia is going to be going forward, I look forward to picking up one of their phones once they expand to other US carriers.

Hmmm... Nokia made them, and said they made a mistake with the software, so...

It's their own mess, doesn't much matter though -- other than people who read tech blogs, this isn't a device of much interest to the average consumer ;-)

Ever since MS took a stake in Nokia they've started to mess up. This would have never happened to nokia of the past. How can a top end flagship multimedia phone from nokia not have a microsd card slot. They used to be innovators being the first to release new tech but now they are just conforming to a MS

But if the same issue is also affecting HTC Titan II (as is being reported by other tech blogs) is it not an AT&T issue, not a Nokia issue? Nokia has been bashed enough already, it's starting to get old...

Damage is done -- regardless of what they do now, this device will just be known as that one that shipped with broken data connectivity and "they had to give people $100".

They really shouldn't be trying to spin good PR out of it, they appear even more desperate now -- how embarrassing for them :-(
