Following on from our news of the 8GB black Nokia N95 supposedly coming soon, a commenter on that post pointed us in the direction of this far clearer (and real-life) photo of the new N95.

Nokia N95 8GB version in black

Nokia N95 8GB name close-upUnfortunately there’s no indication of who took the photo, where it was taken and even in what country.  Remember, while the US writes dates in the MMDDYYYY format, Europe uses DDMMYYYY and so that could make a big difference (May versus July) in when the N95 was actually spotted.

What this does confirm is that the 8GB version exists, although other rumours regarding the omission of GPS are still unconfirmed.  If you know who took the photo or any more details about the phone, please do let us know in the comments!

[thanks Steve]

My gut feeling says something is fishy and this picture is also giving me doubts:

    1. At the top of the slider, it has this slight blurry effect around the edges
    2. The basis of the phone does not seem to be black, it seems to have the glow of the plum colored version N95
    3. Why is the whole screen darkened too? This is the regular stand-by screen, but all text is very hard to read, including the text of the soft-keys.
    4. If this would be the design, why is the keypad without any contrast? Black figures on a black keypad?

And frankly: Why making a MULTIMEDIA device in a “music-edition”???

Let’s hope that Nokia will soonly clarify…

Its a standard N95 that’s been carefully spray painted black and whipped out at a Nokia event.

In response to jans comment, the blurry edges on the pic are due to jpeg compression. Also, the screen is darkened because the backlight has turned off. True tho, their is a odd colour tinge to the body….

sandisk is coming out with its 4 and 8gb micro sd.
nokia and other companies are testing the the sd cards
which might account for the 8 gb nokia n95
if you zoom in on the first pic of the nokia n95 8gb on the front it has the nokia n95 label but it also has tdc-14 written on it commonly mistaken as toc
if you search on google for nokia 8gb tdc-14 it will explain about the new sandisk 4 and 8gb micro sds in mobiles.
not saying its but just might be

When are they going to produce the N95 with the 1900 MHz WCDMA instead of the 2100 MHz WCDMA so we can using it on AT&Ts 3G network?

This is what I’ve been wanting something to match up with the iPhone, 8GB Hard memory vs. some 2-8GB Scan Disk…

I am not too surprised, I just want it really bad!

Motorola came out with the same phone more than once. V3… V3x… V3i… whatever… regular, music player. BLACK Razor!!!

    Nokia does the same… Nokia N80, N80i… Nokia E61, E61i, E62… Nokia N92, N93, N93i… Oh my gosh, it’s just crazy.

Especially after this is released, the hard drive standard space will continue… That security of a 500+ cell phone BETTER be like a walking computer with large hard drive space.

Dumbass, you can just update the firmware to turn a normal N80 into a N80IE as I have done it with mine. The only difference is in the software, not in the hardware of the phone itself.

if your to dumb to research phone info and update firmware or software then this phone is obviously not for you….unless your just a poser looking to waste daddies money…

Apparently the new specs for The N95 8GB are: 8gb Internal storage, 2.8 inch screen (the navigational keys have been made smaller) 1200Mah Batter (loss of the lens cover for that) Black colouring all over, new media player appearence (similar to the new N81) apparently it has improved sat nav, compatibility for the american 3g networks and Ngage software

    It was also the OLD
    N95!

    Take a closer look:

    1. The real N95 8GB has its label only at the top upper left marked ‘N95 8GB’ WITHOUT the Nokia label above it.. (see)

    2. The Nokia Label on the original is placed at The center above the front navigation keys. or more to say, below the screen. (compare again)

    3. The Front camera Lens of the new N95 8GB is bigger than the old.

    4. The front Navigation Keypads of the New N95 is more stylish and quite different than the old.

    5. Lastly, the screen of the new N95 is 2.8″ obviously the one that is in the pic is smaller and definitely the old N95!

    I’ve seen the real!!!!!!!
    and This one’s THE OLD!!

Fames, i got a N80. The difference between the that one and the N80IE is the software. I update my N80 via Nokia site and i had the N80IE… Same software and all!

I have ordered mine direct from my network, with a top off the line bluetooth headset. Be it from me to say whether i’m getting all this magical kit for FREE. :D

But apart from not being Touch Screen capable, (i personally dont want finger prints all over my nice new shiny mobile) is a good thing. Nokia should stay away from copying too many iPhone-isms.

The longer battery life is a key fact, as the original N95 really needed a boost, upgraded from a meager 850Mah to a improved 1200Mah

SAT NAV is where its at for me, so long have i wanted/needed satnav in my car, to now have it readily available on my mobile is a god send. Not to mention a yearly subscription to A-GPS is cheaper than if you were to subscribe to a standard GPRS Satnav system provider. At approx $99 for 3 years subscription, Nokia are pulling out all the stops.

Now i have yet to fully test the multimedia functions, but with a sharper and larger screen, i’m hoping Nokia have fixed the slight drag in fps, as watching a compressed movie on the N95 seemed to struggle with the refresh rate, leaving the owner a little put off.

Hi friends, if you have a normal N95 you don’t have to buy a N95 8gb, we tested normal N95 with sandisk 8GB micro sd card and at speed tests especially div-x videos they are nearly equal, because the new generation micro sd/hc cards are Class 4 High Speed Version and N95 is working much and much better than a standard 1GB micro SD cards, i would like to enlighten you.
