Your brain seems to have failed you. Programs must be optimized for dual-core as well for it to be faster. Otherwise, a 1.4ghz single-core processor is better at running an app that only uses 1 core than a 1.2ghz dual-core.

The Lumia 800 looks great. I’ll be getting one to use alongside my iPhone 4. Never needed a FFC as I, and others, regularly *don’t* use a camera for Skype unless it’s family and I’m far away. In that case, I’ll sit down and use a laptop. If Nokia make a Lumia tablet with Windows 8, I’d like a FFC.

Another brainless apple zombie. WP is DIFFERENT but that doesn’t make it bad. Have someone demo it to you sometime. It has a lot of great features. Personally, I’m an Android guy but I was impressed with what I saw with Windows mobile.

There are many confounders. They needed to do multiple runs on each device, as even the same device loading the same page (after clearing the cache each time) would be expected to give different results. This has to do not only with the local wifi network, but the real-time load/responsiveness of computers serving all the assets (pics, CSS stylesheets, etc) that are individually loaded when a web page is loaded…

There should be two types of “winning”: on which device you can start reading first (more important than total load to me) and which device finishes completely first. However, the latter will vary wildly as there are many assets to load on a modern web page, and it may not be so relevant to real-world use…

The Nokia is a ClearBlack AMOLED which is on par with Super AMOLED plus. But they also designed the screen to minimize depth and decrease internal reflection to make it seem as if the images are “floating on the screen”. You can see this in person, but I think being on video also plays to its strengths. Pixel density isn’t everything, they’re all good displays just in different ways.

Nokia Drive and Nokia Public Transport will reset the standard for what urban users expect from their GPS enabled smartphones.

On Android and iPhone you have to toggle between multiple apps and maps and GPS to just find out when and where to catch the next bus or metro.
Anybody who commutes in cities will not understand why this area has not been tapped into before.
I know I don’t.
When I read about the Public Transport app, I was like, “duh!”

Slashgear please watch your own videos. The Nokia rendered the pages fully quicker then the iPhone. Like Treysparker, hAlzz, & TheTruth said it’s the rotating wheel on the top, not the blue bar that indicates load times. I can see why you would make this mistake, but what I don’t understand is that you have not corrected yourself after so many have comment on this, please step up and fix this.

Though I think that all 3 phones were close enough that browser speed is a non-issue which ever route you go. I must say I’m impressed with the Nokia, doing this with only a single core meaning less cost and better battery life. Good work.

the Nokia phone actually beat the iphone 4s in the first test (loading the desktop version of slashgear). What almost everyone misses to notice is that the Safari browser gives an illustion that the page rendering is finished sooner but the truth is it is not as soon as it seems because if you look in the notification bar and find the “swirling icon” everytime a page loads, this icon stays there for another 5-8 seconds which means loading is not done yet. In this test, the Nokia N9 actually finished loading the page @ 1:49 but the “swirling icon” on the iphone did not disappear until 1:57. Just my 2cents.

The 4s smoothed the gs2 in the browser test with the same margins as it did with the nokia phone. So the gs2 and nokia phone would be comparable in speeds.

No actually I am right. This test is not as great for showing it, but even if you look at some of Vincent’s previous comparisons between the SGSII and the iphone 4s, it is painfully obvious that the content on the page continues to load and the page continues to change seconds after the blue bar hits the end of the address bar.

wrong, and in other tests like these you can clearly see things still load when the video narrator says the iphone is done. I think these supposed real world tests havent picked that up yet. The blue bar is not an indicator of the iphone being done. Who knows why, but the rotating wheel is actually when things stop loading on the iphone which in earlier tests show it actually being slower.

These tests are useless. What the hell is the difference if your page loads 3 seconds faster than the other? Does it really make a difference how fast you can get your tech news fix?

I would rather see comparison of camera shutter speed, that kind of test is useful in real life situations.
