Nokia Lumia 1020 heading to Canada on TELUS and Rogers

The camera-centric Nokia Lumia 1020, bearer of a 41-megapixel camera, will be arriving for Canadian customers on TELUS and Rogers, according to a tweet Nokia fired off saying as much. Other pertinent details — namely how much it will cost and when it will available — weren't specified, but we're hoping it won't be too much longer now.

The announcement was made alongside a picture of the yellow and black Lumia 1020, which you can see a model of in the image above. This follows the handset's launch via AT&T late last month, a release that went smoothly and on schedule. Going farther back in the year, we saw a myriad of leaks and rumors regarding the handset, many of which proved to be true.

As we noted in our review, the Lumia 1020 features a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus processor alongside 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage space. The display, meanwhile, is a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with a 720p resolution and both good viewing angles and outdoor visibility. In addition, the 1020 features a Super Sensitive panel, which is promised to allow for use while wearing gloves.

There are the other expected trimmings — Bluetooth, WiFi a/b/g/n, GPS, a 2-megapixel on the front, and a microUSB port — but the camera is its biggest selling point, offering both high resolution shots and a wide-angle lens. We've got some sample shots taken with the camera as well as a demonstration of its zooming capabilities in the review, so be sure to check it out.

Earlier this week, what is rumored to be the first 6-inch Windows Phone in Nokia's lineup, the Lumia 1520 codenamed Bandit, appeared in a shot purporting to be of the device. If rumors are true, the handset will feature a Full HD display and will be introduced in late September.
