Nokia’s shoveling of inexpensive phones toward uninterested Chinese consumers…” which is the main problem. China is a quickly developing country. They don’t want a bunch of dumbphones and feature phones, but by axing Meego and Symbian, that’s all they had to offer in the time it took them to introduce the Lumia series. They thought those “barely anything but a phone” handset would continue in the Chinese market, but they did as no one there was interested in them.

Nokia misplayed their hand way back when.  They should have adopted Android first to get into these market quick and stake their claim.   And then taken the Windows phone deal.   Windows needed them…just as much as they needed Windows.
