You sound like you hate iOS and you love Android but you know very little about both.

I already explained why Android needs tweaking depending on what you are trying to accomplish, maybe trying to get a better performance for gaming or maybe trying to get the same configuration you had on a previous handset you got used to. This does not mean you cant use your phone without tweaking it, it is fully usable and I have never said otherwise.

You seem to have an opinion about what is simple and what isnt but this opinion is very far from being logical. When your phone has a single front button and an array of apps, this can be considered to be simple and easy to use. However, when your phone has anywhere from 3 to 4 front buttons, three different sub menus, an application array, a widget layer, a folder system, add to this a wide number of inconsistencies across devices, I am 100% sure that is not by any means a simple UI. Im a Software Engineer, I have no trouble using Android but I am not that obnoxious as to think that everybody else will find it easy to use. By the way, it is important to notice that just because someone can use it does not make it simple to use.

Saying that iCloud = iTunes is kinda cute but still silly. I hope you know that iCloud does not back up to iTunes it puts the back up in a server, again you dont need iTunes you dont need to install iTunes anywhere in order to back up your phone or restore from a previous back up thats saved in the cloud.

I dont want to start describing why widgets are useless unless used for the weather forecast but moving on! Im not sure where you are getting all your info from but as far Im concern, Google did not invent widgets, Apple did back in 1984, Google did not invent folder systems, Google did not invent notification systems either . Google did not invent absolutely anything for Android's UI. They have been porting from features already present in Windows or OSX into Android, just because, with no direction, no concept just put it there so it looks like we have more stuff.

Do you think Apple cant just create a folder system? Do you think Apple cant just add a widget system? Think again. Its about changing whats already been made and trying to find a new approach to computing, a simple one far away from what Windows and OSX are right now. Microsoft understands that and Apple helped Microsoft see the importance in changing the way we use computers. Google has 0 innovation capabilities in that respect, it has pretty much no patents whatsoever on anything UI related, it pays about a billion a year to Microsoft on licensing fees, and it depends on manufacturers's portfolio to be able to keep their OS business together. Android is exactly what Microsoft and Apple are trying to get rid of, Android = The Old Concept Of Computing.

All of those statements are blanket statements obtained from some opinion piece that could date up to a year ago. This is not researched information that you are spitting out. All top tier Android phones have the newest available release of the Android operating system. Even phones that were released more than a year ago. However, they do need to stop releasing so many devices as that has hindered some of the better phones from the 2nd generation from getting new releases. You do NOT need to do ANY tweaking with Android, this is a VERY FALSE statement from someone without knowledge of the system. It is the easiest thing to do, download the app you want (yes the SAME apps that are on the apple appstore) put on the home screen. It is the exact same as the iPhone, except you have more options available to you should you choose to do so. Which in the end gives you more options.

iPhones interface is very simplistic, but to assume that means it isn't confusing is also short sighted. I have had the device in my hand and maybe because it is so simple, I just didn't get how the programs were opening and closing. I feel like I am not the one in control of the device by not being able to look through the open programs or see where they are being stored. Perhaps it is because I like to be the manager of my tech devices is why I don't like this. It doesn't have the things that I would look for in a device.

The other thing about your statement on iCloud and how ridiculously funny that is. You are blinding by the apple BS, iCloud is the exact same thing as iTunes, except it allows you to upload over the air instead of tethered to a cable. And this statement of you don't have to use iTunes is false, otherwise no one on the apple products would. They also do NOT have the most TV Shows and Movie Rentals available that is plain false. Check out any source, Amazon, Google Movies, Netflix, etc.

Android is extremely easy to use, I've seen everyone from non-tech savvy people, children, grandparents, etc. pick one up and start using it. The Widgets alone are enough to stop me from using and Apple device, the ability to see all information from within an app without even opening it? That is truly awesome. The iPhone is dated for more than LTE, which anyone who knows about LTE knows that the technology isn't even half baked yet. They are dated because they are now having to borrow from Android for things as simple as a notification bar, message indicator lights, multi-tasking, folders, and on down the line. I think you should spend more time checking out the devices than blabbering on about them online when you haven't even touched an Android phone (it is apparent).

Compared to iOS and WP, Android if far from "easy to use", but it is flexible.

Well that certainly is a bold statement. While I do like the looks of the Lumia 800, I certainly don't dislike the looks of the iPhone. and Android doesn't confuse me.

Calling an Apple product not fashionable is ridiculous though, look what they did with the iPod turning it into a must have brand and completely dominating the mp3 market. While the iPhone isn't the same as the iPod certainly it is a more recognizable brand than any of Nokia's current smartphones especially in the US. and saying that the youths are fed up with iPhone is definitely a hopeful guess. Apple is all about turning their products into recognizable brands, good luck going toe-to-toe with them making a phone more fashionable. Isn't fashion all about brands?

Now onto the Android being confusing... I think there is a lot of depth and customizations that can be made with android that I'm sure go vastly untouched by most users, but I think anyone that uses the phone for more than a half hour can figure out how to text, call, browse the internet and the use the camera which is what most people use phones for. Even Google stated that users weren't in "love" with the android design which is what they aimed to changed in ICS which I personally think they did.

Currently iOS is my favorite, however with ICS I'd be pretty tempted to give Android a serious shot. However, I feel like Samsung held a bit back with the Galaxy Nexus saving for their own ICS phones that should be shown off at CES, it'll certainly be interesting to see what is shown off this year. Hopefully ICS is good enough to convince manufacturers that they don't need to put their own skins on top of android anymore because all their skins suck and are quite possibly a common reason for Android not getting as favorable feedback from users as iOS.

Windows Phone 7 is interesting... I like the looks of the metro UI but the hardware is certainly not there. The Lumia 800 looks very nice but the tech specs are certainly nothing that will give a high end android phone anything to be scared about. Yes, you can make the argument that it doesn't need as much as an android phone because the metro ui runs so smooth (strange saying that microsoft isnt a resource hog) but I was definitely still expecting more. I would think that they would be pushing mobile gaming on their phones. So far I think metro UI is best at use on my xbox and where I think I'd like it to remain. It is god awful in the Windows 8 preview.

Unfashionable... LOL.

Believe it or not, Nokia, people don't care.

Macbooks look basically like powerbooks from 8 years ago and Ipods all basicly looked the same until the ipod touch.

Contrary to popular derpitude, apple users don't care about fashionable. Quality industrial design and build, yes, demand it... Fashionable? Don't really care. I don't think a man who wears a black turtleneck for 10 years cares much about fashion either.

You can take Windows out of the box and simply use it without having to do anything. My analogy comes down to the fact that like Windows to get the best of Android some tweaking is required, considering slow manufacture upgrades and default crap that comes enabled with your new handset that in most cases you dont even need, it seems obvious that it needs polish.

iPhone's fun is in how easy it is to learn the UI and understand your phone completely in seconds. The rest of the fun comes from all the Apps you download from the AppStore. The only reason why people are saying that iPhones are dated is because it does not support LTE and arguably it doesnt feature an over 4" screen. Im not sure these are enough reasons to date a phone. In my opinion Android is like using Windows, lots of unnecessary things 0 intuitiveness and heavily fragmented.

iPhones are not tight to iTunes, I back up my phone with iCloud, I dont need iTunes for upgrades and it syncs automatically with iCloud, so the iTunes argument is kinda dead by now even if you want to transfer pirated songs to your iPhone you dont HAVE to use iTunes. However i use iTunes because thats of all the music available and they also have the widest collection of TV Shows and Movie Rental service.

Sounds like you don't know much about Android. You can take it out of the box and simply use it without having to do anything to it. Yes there are customizable options and you could really create something different. But it's not necessary and more over some of the apps you can download do all the work for you. I'm confused as to whether you've even picked up an Android phone. iPhone offers the most mundane, simplistic, no frills, no fun that a phone can. While I'm not sure about Windows phone I can certainly say iPhone is dated and feels very much so. Plus for the non-Mac and Apple crowd it can be confusing as to how it truly works. (ie. closing a program, navigation is not intuitive, setup is not easy, tied to iTunes? why?)

I kinda agree with Nokia, iPhones do feel a bit unfashionable with 2 years stuck with the same design but Im hoping the 5 will change that. I also agree with Android being a big mess, not sure that has fixing of any sort, thats pretty much the nature of Android, a cluttered OS that is up to the consumer to customize and optimize. It reminds me of a Windows PC where I had to open services disable this and that, install Tune Up Utilities to perform some clean up, change the location of my virtual memory, turn off some graphic effects and animations and so on. What a pain in the ###.

Although right now iOS is my fav mobile OS, Im looking forward to Windows Phone, theres something about the UI that is just done the right way and it feels like the right approach towards mobile UI design. It seems pretty responsive too. Im not sure how this will all play out at the end with the same manufacturers most likely offering both Android and WP, what will the consumer choose? As WP gains ground this can become a problem for Android, a nightmare more or less.
