Nokia HERE Traffic arrives on select 2014 Mitsubishi models

Nokia has announced that its HERE Traffic platform will be available on select 2014 Mitsubishi models for those located in the United States, offering information on fuel prices, roads, and more. Nokia is promising that its service brings data on four times the number of roads than competing traffic platforms, doing so via HD Radio technology and the vehicles' infotainment systems.

HERE Traffic will be available on the Mitsubishi 2014 Lancer, Lancer Evolution, Lancer Sportback, Outlander, and the Outlander Sport. The data provided by the system is available to drivers via the cars' touchscreen displays and with the controls on the steering wheel, and cover a wide variety of topics relevant to drivers of all varieties.

Via the platform, drivers will be able to see data on 100,000 gas stations throughout the nation, as well as what totals up to 330,000 miles of roads with real-traffic updates. There are also weather updates, which Nokia says are updated every 30 seconds, ensuring that it is up-to-date. The use of HD Radio tech means there is a higher bandwidth than with the more traditional RDS, delivering the updates more rapidly.

Mitsubishi's Senior Manager of Product Planning Bryan Arnett said: "Our commitment to bring the most innovative technologies to our drivers continues to move forward at an aggressive pace, and offering real-time traffic, weather and fuel prices by HD from HERE is another natural next step. Mitsubishi owners will now experience a more enjoyable drive that will let them feel safer while driving on the road."
