I'm with everyone else posting on this article - enough with the revolutionary concept talk. I could care less. Just give my a simple bombproof OS that is both fairly configurable and has the potential of keeping consistency across (at least the built in) apps. Nokia already makes good hardware subsystems like cameras, audio, radios. Start releasing some hardware or roadmaps to get to a release. Showing some prototypes would help. CES 2011 is going to have a ton of hardware buzz with dual core Android phones and tablets and maybe other platforms too (Windows 7, Blackberry, and WebOS). Sure, if Meego comes out late again (I hope not), Nokia can try to regain whatever market share they keep losing as the months go by, but it would be better to come out with functional hardware ASAP (the first Android phone wasn't so great, but look where they got) than to try to knock it out of the park on the first go (nobody's done that yet - the first iPhone sucked too, nor am I impressed by any other first phones). Why can't Nokia just tweak the N8 design a bit (if needed at all), port Meego 1.1 to it, concentrate on whatever crucial features are missing in 1.1 to have a functional smart phone and worry about all this optimization later? In fact, I don't even agree with what Marko Ahtisaari is talking about. I want a big screen immersive device. I choose if I want to be immersed thank you - I don't need Nokia to be my nanny. Of course big screen phones can have good voice interfaces so they can still be safe will driving and velcro'd to the dash as a GPS and hands free telephone - that's as much effort as I want Nokia to put into reducing the immersion.

I have to agree also. . . Android is evolving quickly therefore MeeGo has to play catchup thus Nokia and Intel have to throw some serious weight behind it before it's too late. All the great design ideas mean nothing if they never make it into a product or every other OS has them before you ship anything.

Are Nokia and Intel willing to spend the big bucks to catchup? I'm doubtful.

Hearing Mr Ahtisaari say this makes me feel that Meego will take even longer to come out. "One-handed use"? A far cry from the N900 which didn't even have portrait mode upon release.
Please don't dumb down Meego. If I want that I'll can always get myself an iOS device instead.

I have to agree. One single device running Maemo in the last year, N900, doesn't cut it. Nokia had a winning concept with the internet tablets a few years back, but did not care about appealing to a broader customer base by offering more hardware diversity, and thus the advantage was wasted...
