Nokia E72 shipping in USA for $469

Anticipation for the Nokia E72 belies the suggestion that there are no S60 enthusiasts left; the new QWERTY smartphone has a quiet but devoted following who have been anxiously tracking Nokia's online store.  Now the E72 has finally begun shipping in the US, priced at $469.

That gets you the E72 complete with quadband GSM and triband WCDMA, as well as Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and WiFi b/g.  There's a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, a Flash Lite 3.0 compatible browser and A-GPS with a digital compass.  It's worth noting that you only get a trial of the navigation functionality in Nokia Maps 3.0 – a year's worth of access will cost you $99.95.

We reviewed the Nokia E72 last month, and came away impressed by its solid build and excellent QWERTY keyboard.  Although S60 may not be the most graphically entertaining of platforms, it does a reasonably good job of handling office functionality.
