I totally agree with you Ajay. I bought this phone last month & I already want to throw it away (this is the 1st time this is happening to me with a Nokia phone).
Sometimes I have to tap an app twice for it to open, the sound is dead & most importantly, the battery is pathetic.
Maybe it's just me but Nokia really messed up with this phone.

OMG, another blinded Symbian fanboy, who tend to be just like iphone and android fanboys for the same reason - too much emotional attachment towards the technology/product and not enough emphasis on the actual people involved. Not surprised that you would point to a more positive review of the E6, but I always give GSMArena a grain of salt on their Nokia reviews. It doesn't seem practical to the non-technical users.
I get it - you probably love all the nice HW features delivered on Nokia phones, coupled with some of the nice freebies introduced 6 years ago that many carriers try to limit or charge for now, but that's the point of most of the Symbian reviews here - most of this stuff is ancient history now. The current staff just keeps sitting on the success of their predecessors, but has done NOTHING to progress and stay ahead of the competition (crappy email client, poor browser, lousy media player), and sometimes even done very stupid things to hurt it's image (N97 and S60v5 are the classic examples). Also, breaking compatibility between S60v2 and S60v3 was a HUGE setback.I liked Symbian back in 2004 as well, and in 2006 when I got my N95, but give me break! The Symbian staff let this product fall apart, and I think the review here for is very accurate for the general public, given I have owned just as many Symbian flagship phones as many of these 'biased' reviewers. Symbian might have nice fancy dev features, but it certainly doesn't do enough to protect itself from fatal bugs to prevent phone crashes (Bubble Lock is a great example) and is way too buggy. Also it seems like their application delivery is abysmal, not being able to progress beyond the same UX paradigms they've delivered 5 years ago. Not only are their products light years behind the competition in terms of quality, but the staff takes way too long to address issues, further hampering their image. Don't tell me it's Elop's fault as some trojan either, because he wouldn't even be placed into a position to cause damage if it wasn't for the abysmal failure of the previous staff. If you read anything about Symbian history, you would know that the people who brought you the magical features you speak of were kicked out by Nokia right around the time the N70 was introduced, and the staff had an incredibly difficult time progressing ever since.BTW, how do YOU know what the trends are? Are you a professional market researcher? Do you go around the world collecting GB of customer and retailer data. I'd definitely give your unfounded claims of market trends more of a grain of salt then some of the more professional outlets.

I agree with you. My new Nokia E6 also has poor battery back-up. Hardly lasts for a day.
The speaker volume is abysmally low.
The activation of the Compass is erratic when the maps are loaded for navigation. Not worth buying this stuff paying ~17K.

Hi,
I purchased my brand new Nokia E6-00 from Nokia...the touch is awesome no doubt in it but it has few bugs like
1- Battery wont give you more than 1 day backup if you're using it
2- You can't mail more than 2 MB attachment with Nokia Email Client.
3- It doesn't have auto-focus which is a basic feature in Nokia E72.

And I believe this mailing attachment problem can be solved but not the battery backup issue and camera issue.

Reply if any questions / post
Thanks

Users of these types of phones aren't as interested in multitudes of new apps but solid ones that work. I've had my E63 for many years and have hardly ever bought a new app for the lack of need/desire. Symbian already has eg a 3g hotspot app - joikuspot, skype app, fring app etc (unlike say WP7 which prevents me buying WP7 to begin with). The ever increasing app catalog has to be one of the most over-rated things in the phone world. Most business users use a core of 10-20 apps and hardly ever change. This is my point that this phone is not being judged on its merits/intended user but on what it lacks compared to the game playing, facebook-loving full touchscreen fad.

Secondly most people buying this kind of phone are typically the kind who do keep their phones for a while and aren't interested in the latest and greatest. I'd be happy with this for a year before a wp7 qwerty arrives and then still wait a further year for the development of apps to be better and price to come down before buying a wp7 device.

Hardly anyone will buy one on a 2 year agreement ... most likely will be sim free.

I'm not denying that there are some drawbacks but really as a qwerty business messenger it has to be high up on most people's lists and deserves a much better review or at the very least summary. The real competition is blackberry and I haven't seen anything from a blackberry that offer this much functionality and innovation. Or even has as few drawbacks.

Good points. While the E6 is a solid device, and yes there are plenty of Symbian apps now, will there also be plenty of Symbian apps released over the next two years (I pick that period as it's the average cellphone contract length)? With Nokia vocally switching to Windows Phone, I'm not alone in expecting to see developers turn their attentions to the platforms seen as having the most potential for users - that could well mean a diminishing number of new apps in the coming months/years, as Symbian falls behind its rivals.

As for the full-touch argument, while current Windows Phones have all been much-of-a-muchness in terms of design, that's down to Microsoft's initial strict guidelines on form-factor. Not all WP handsets are going to be full-touch, and I'd be very surprised if Nokia weren't among the first to bring out QWERTY models, either using an E7-style form-factor or the E6 (or, more likely, both). At that point - which could happen significantly less than 12 months into your two year E6 agreement - would you rather have an E6 running Symbian or a an E6 running Windows Phone, with all the investment that entails?

Good points. While the E6 is a solid device, and yes there are plenty of Symbian apps now, will there also be plenty of Symbian apps released over the next two years (I pick that period as it’s the average cellphone contract length)? With Nokia vocally switching to Windows Phone, I’m not alone in expecting to see developers turn their attentions to the platforms seen as having the most potential for users – that could well mean a diminishing number of new apps in the coming months/years, as Symbian falls behind its rivals.

As said in the review (or the piece before the review), the E71 was excellent. I had the white version, which was sexy as hell. Still miss that phone. Sturdy, not too light/heavy, handy and much more. Too bad Symbian had its limits.

The review was largely positive but by the summary the reviewer has fallen into the symbian is dead bandwagon of bias.

Why on earth would someone wanting a qwerty messenger phone care about a wp7 on a nokia or any of that full touchscreen junk. Judge it for what it is ... a solid business phone.

THe main competitors are the chacha and blackberry.

Vs the chacha
First and foremost the styling is much more business like and much better looking in general.
Better call quality, better battery life, free worldwide gps with downloadable maps
All make for a much better phone for its intended audience.

Vs Blackberry
I've never actually used one so I'm not going to comment but from what I see the blackberry OS is more outdated than symbian.

Oh yes and there are plenty of apps that make the experience better eg I
use opera mini and profimail. The android built in apps are often
replaced by 3rd party ones anyway like dolphin browser so why box up the
OS to what is built in?

I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me $52.78 to get. Here is the website we using to get all this stuff, LiveCent.com
