This man Elop must think that people are really really stupid. This will be another Microsoft failure and they are taking Nokia with them.
According to some news in Finland Elop was appointed CEO after hard pressure from US stockholders. Jorma Ollila wanted Annsi Vanajoki but now Nokia is gone.

By the way this was covered by many news outlets I thought these would be virtual billions in the form of joint advertising and development of MS-owned WP assets to Nokia's taste. But now after watching the complete video of Elop's speech on Sunday it seems quite different. Elop was very clear in saying that he is talking about "real payments in the billions" from MS to Nokia and a "net benefit in billions" to Nokia. This is as it should be, and makes the payment of royalties in the other direction acceptable.

I still think Nokia failed absolutely miserably in announcing this deal on Friday, causing much unnecessary commotion, but at the Sunday event they started to set things right. My faith in Nokia is much restored.

Anyone who just followed the Engadget coverage of the event should get the information from the horse's mouth (he's no trojan though :) from the "Nokia Conversations" channel available in YouTube.

Now, Elop was quoted as saying the value transfered to Nokia is in Bs, no Ms. So, Nokia basically gets paid for WP7, while the rest have to pay for WP7. HTC, Samsung, LG, Dell, who stood by WP7 from the very beginning, look pretty stupid now, don't they?

As a shareholder I am positive to this deal with Microsoft. It may take some time before the market change sentiment . . When we have a date for the first Nokia WP7 I guess stockwill go up. The reactions on Engadget whowrote an article on the coming phone) was very positive. Dont worry.

Microsoft will pay billion of dollars to Nokia for using Windows Phone 7.
ps Stephen Elop has 500,000 stock options in Nokia, a fact that has not appeared in Nokia’s insider register on the Internet, even though they provide him a considerably strong incentive.

He must have practiced that speech over and over and over and over and over. It's the exact same thing he's said on stage, twice now.

The proof is in the pudding. Had Nokia followed through on its grande statements of what they are going to do, were going to do, etc., they would be fine but there are too many cooks in the kitchen and though they can all read the recipe, none of them seems to know how to use the bleedin' stove.

Devs have done EVERYTHING for Nokia. They need to get rid of these idiots with MBAs, who have no clue what they are doing, and let some of the engineers take over.

All of this garbage about "ecosystem" and other Bullsh*t Bingo has GOT to stop, Mr. Elop. Those words are only permissible if you are experiencing growth while leading markets, not when for the past year you have only been able to get one excellent phone, with an OS that the world totally despises, while clinging to the coattails of an ever-shrinking market share.

YOUR COMPANY threw the N900 out there and touted it as the most amazing innovation ever seen, and then you dropped it like a hot potato. Your most faithful customers are now running the show. How LAZY of you.

Is that how you see yourself? Budding off a brand new, totally different piece of kit every few years, but just leaving it behind to sink or swim? If that's the case, fine, but make it clear that those are your intentions and don't try to compete with Apple and Android manufacturers, but come back with your tail between your legs crying about new "ecosystems" and "burning platforms" when you hear people disparaging you.

The easy path iss a totally acceptable route, just be more honest about it and be willing to accept the consequences.

The only ones doing anything are your engineers--and guess what--without them, you are a bunch of people in suits sitting around a table talking about "synergy" with no lights on because you have no money. Get up off of your lazy behinds, and actually DO something for once--then stick to it!

1) multitasking
2) tethering
3)USB OTG
4)HDMI output capabilities
5) nothing to do with OS, i just want the n8 camera or better on any flagship device to come.
