Now I know why, Apple has been designing their own payment app using Apple IDs that is about to launch (if it already hasn't) in Apple stores for testing. Once that happens people can start paying for items with their iPhones and it will mean reduced if not no queues in-store.

The question is will Apple kill NFC? I doubt it but I don't see it lasting for as long as it could without the iPhone.

The iPhone 4S was officially announced yesterday and sadly no mention of NFC being included.

We have an NFC based patient in the security industry and were hoping the iPhone would provide another vehicle to wider acceptance of the technology to get the product line moving more.

Oh well, Android phones are the way to go for now!
