When Blizzard decided to start work on Diablo III, one of the things they felt was important was to simplify the interface down to needing little more than a mouse. This of course added fuel to speculation that the game may see a console release. Thankfully Lead Designer Jay Wilson specifically touches on this matter.

Unfortunately for those hoping to play on their 360 or PS3, it doesn’t look like it’s going to be happening any time soon. The official word is “we don’t have any plans.” So much for that.

Though just because they don’t have plans for it now, doesn’t mean that they won’t look into that option once they are finished with the game. Right now their main goal is to focus on the game and get it our for their core platforms (Mac and PC). I’m not sure that I could ever really get excited about playing a Diablo title on anything but my trusty gaming rig anyway.
