Nissan's in-car aid automatically slows you down for STOP signs

I can't help think that if your automatic response on seeing a STOP sign is to speed up then there's something seriously wrong with your road safety skills, but rather than recommend that such drivers go on an intensive retraining course Nissan are taking the high-tech route.  They've developed a system which monitors road traffic warnings (such as STOP signs, give-way signs and general road conditions) and gives the driver varying levels of feedback should it believe they're not responding appropriately.

Now "varying levels of feedback" could mean anything from an alarm and on-screen warning such as "Slow down, you dumb idiot!" to even adding extra resistance to the accelerator pedal so that you're forced to reduce speed.  A cellphone link will allow real-time updates on traffic and road conditions, further expanding the car's ability to nanny guide you, and you'll also be made aware of other cars and pedestrians in blind-spots via an overhead-view of the car.

They're planning to install it in their luxury car range first, before it filters down the ranges.  What do you think?  Do you want your car to take some responsibility for driving, or do you see it as technology overstepping the mark?
