Nissan partners with Apple for iTunes Radio exclusive

Speaking up today on their impending partnership, Nissan and Apple have let it be known that they'll be moving forward on iTunes Radio for automobiles. This move will make Nissan the "exclusive automotive launch partner" for iTunes Radio, and will allow it to retain this title "through 2013." The environment known as iTunes Radio was introduced to the public earlier this month on the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c with the mobile operating system iOS 7.

This partnership will have exclusive content available – Nissan content, that is – through Apple TV, iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Mac, and PC. Both the Nissan Versa Note and the Nissan LEAF will have custom iTunes Radio content, and a series of "newsworthy moments" will be appearing in the near future as well. These bits of "newsworthy moments" content will be appearing along the ongoing Nissan Heisman House Tour as well as the upcoming 2014 Nissan Rogue.

According to Jon Brancheau, vice president, Marketing, Nissan North America, Inc., Nissan is also moving forward with iAd on iTunes Radio to maximize support of ongoing campaigns like the Heisman Trophy Tour and other college football initiatives. This will also be part of the 2014 Nissan Rogue theme "Make the Ordinary Extraordinary" and will likely be appearing in ads for the vehicle in the near future.

Meanwhile iTunes Radio works for the public on a variety of Apple mobile devices, appearing right out of the box on iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c, and will almost certainly be appearing on new iPad devices later this year (new generation iPads and iPad minis, that is). With iOS 7, users will be able to work with iTunes Radio to listen to a variety of music tracks with iAd content for free – this is a music discovery platform, essentially, with Apple taking on the entire streaming music universe at once.
