Its more likely to give developers options, which is a good thing. The Wii suffered from lack of good third party games because there was no easily available "classic" controller. A lot of devs just wanna make a game with the same controls they know, because that's what gamers know. It is a stupid cycle, but I think this is for the best.

Not sure how I feel about the wide design for the tablet controller though....

The design of this controller isn't bad. As a PS3 user, I have to admit that the 360 controller is the most comfortable.

My concern with this controller is that we want programmers to be innovative and creative with the touchscreen on the WiiU gamepad, right? But this controller gives them the opportunity to simply skirt around the touchscreen thing altogether. And if 3rd parties choose to omit it because they can simply port games to the PS3, 360 and WiiU without worrying about the touch screen, then Nintendo doesn't have a leg up on the competition anymore. And the WiiU screen becomes a gimmick.

On top of that, the Wii U now has 3 methods of control: The WiiU Gamepad, the Wii Remotes, and this controller. Are developers expected to come up with control schemes for each one? Is Nintendo making it too much work to develop games for the console? Will a traditional controller cannibalize the touchscreen use in games?

This looks exactly like a 360 controller, far more than any controller. The only thing different is positioning of buttons and analog stick on the right side, they switched it.

If Nintendo doesn't want this to bomb they need to implement a trophy system (maybe stickers?) now. Its nice that battlefield 3 is a release game but that means didly if its missing a key component that the 360 and ps3 has.

The pro controller looks is obviously trying to mimic the 360 controller jus
