Idk. I love the Wii, and I love PS3. I could mostly care less about Xbox 360 even though I have one, just because I don’t like Microsoft lol.

But with that being said, everyone knows that they would love to see the wii remade with better graphics. I personally don’t think that the wii is “lacking” but it would still be better with higher graphics.

Imagine playing Monster Hunter Tri in 1080p instead of 480i or 480p. Monster Hunter Tri was originally going to be a ps3 game, but since it’s so expensive to develop the ps3 games, they moved over to Wii. Not that I’m complaining, I don’t care what console the game is on, and I don’t really care how good the graphics are. But better graphics, never hurt anything, in my opinion.

So if the Wii came out with a new system with better graphics, I would be very happy. But if they don’t, then it doesn’t change anything because I like the Wii for the most part. But I also like ps3 and Xbox, and if the game came out for ps3, xbox 360, and wii I would probably get it for Xbox 360 or Wii, just for the better graphics. It’s just my preference.

I definitely won’t argue with the HD and BluRay… heck, even online gaming. But the difference between Microsoft and Sony vs. Nintendo is that Nintendo tries to offer games for everyone, while Microsoft and Sony generally only ever focus on adult content. It actually feels hard to find a game that has even a T rating on Xbox or Playstation anymore. More adult games would be nice, as Resident Evil proved to be madly successful on the Wii.

Since the NES, Nintendo have released a new home console, on average, every five years. The Wii is five years old.
Plain and simple it was the motion controls and a cheap purchase price that sold the Wii.
The controls captured our imagination and our wallet’s didn’t feel too much pain buying that toy.
Now Xbox and PS3 have similar control schemes and their purchase price are dropping.
The sales of Wii hardware is still healthy; but for how much longer. I believe they are on a rapid downward sales slide.

With the price of HD TV’s now becoming affordable for many, HD graphics, and I mean 1080P, are now commonplace.
The Wii CPU and GPU are reved up die shrinks of 10year old hardware and, whilst theoretically they could display 720P(frame rates and special effects would be useless), no Wii games are produced with a resolution of greater than 480P.

It would not cost Nintendo a lot of money in R & D to provide a higher spec machine than the 360 or PS3 with backwards compatabilty to Wii and Gamecube.
I don’t believe the developers want too much better graphics than what is currently available on the PS3 and Xbox, games are expensive enough to develope already.

Yes, Nintendo like to surprise us with their ideas and they may be waiting to provide us with ….idunno ….a holographic display….but, I for one, would like some new Nintendo IP games, I’ve had enough Zelda, Metroid and Mario. Maybe they could surprise us in the software department!.

I don’t think slow down is justification to release a new console. If they are pathetic compared to launch than yeah but if game companies released a new console every time there was a little slow down we’d be on Playstation 25 and Xbox 9999 and there wouldn’t be any good games for any of them because developers would be to focused on the next console coming out. Besides Nintendo is releasing the 3DS this year. I don’t think having Wii 2 cut into 3DS is a very good idea.

What I am saying is that a Nintendo does have serious gamers games. I am saying you are not a serious gamer. Real gamers like a wide variety of games from a wide genre of games. You can find great games from every genre on every console. Saying that the Wii does not have these excellent games means that you are an anti-Wii fanboy or are completely oblivious to the amazing games out there. Either way, if you can not see the hardcore, serious gaming value in all three of the top consoles, then you are not a real gamer. You are just one of those pathetic bottom feeders that equates high end graphics with high end gaming. Us veterans of the gaming world, those of us that liked gaming before it became accepted in society, those of us who started on systems like the Atari and Commodore 64, those of us that enjoy fun and challenging games on any console, we take no offense to your silly homophobic insults. WOW, im impressed you to took the time out from sucking the fat cock of the Nintendo beast to write that and to some degree i agree with you but the way i see it is the wii is like a sugar rush, an energy drink, red bull etc…it’s good for a burst of arcade music, sweetshop graphics and it’s hi-energy gameplay, rush rush rush but after a while it becomes too much and need a stronger fix of gaming and before you know it it’s 4am in the morning after being up all night on the pc, xbox or ps3.
I aint wot is saying that the wii is shite and all that but it aint no real gaming console due to the serious lack of serious gamers games but if you is the type what is loving the wii for what is and that style of gaming then thats fine with me buddy and as you are saying everyone has there preference but just because one console saells way more than other s doesnt prove that it is the best and all that shite

haha, I love when people bash the Wii as not being a gamers console. The real gamers, the ones that played before Final Fantasy 7 and FPS’s, still love any good game, regardless of the console. Halo is a great game with a great story line. Little Big Planet is amazing. Heck, even Minecraft, with its graphics from twenty years ago, is awesome. The thing about Nintendo, is that at least 75% of their first party titles are just as good as the best games that the other consoles have to offer. It does not matter if you do not like the cartoon nature of Mario, the Mario games have amazing game play. Almost every Nintendo made game has amazing game play, and any real “gamer” knows it.

No it isn’t, but as Microsoft and Apple have shown virtually no interest in BluRay, it is likely to fall by the wayside fairly soon, as the market moves more toward digital ownership as opposed to physical ownership.

And BluRay players are too expensive to put into a Wii-like system anyhow.

And I am the biggest Hard Core Zelda fan, (my favorite being A link to the past) but the new zelda just looks like it was made for an 8 year old Child. And now tell me how many of these games are first-party titles. See? The majority of them are third-party games. I think you should be smart enough to realize that these games could as well be released on the next Nintendo console. On the other hand, all of Ninty’s first party games (the Carnival Games series is definitely NOT one of them cause I don’t even know what the Carnival Games series is) will NEVER be released on a console from Microsoft or Sony as long as Nintendo is still making its own consoles. This again means, that the next Nintendo console will most probably have all the games you mentioned before plus Nintendo’s own games. I highly doubt that Sony and Microsoft would have even a slight chance of making money in this case.
Before you ask, I won’t tell you all of Nintendo’s kickass-1st-party games. There are too many of them, their names wouldn’t even fit on your screen.

I agree that this almost looks like a tie, but it already shows that at least 1 Nintendo game is better from the press’ point of view. The next one will crush your little dreams:

yes i bought a wii then sold it due to the crappy boring games and dull graphics, it’s just not a gamers console, however, kids and parents seem to enjoy it, but then again they enjoy shows like xfactor and celebrity dancing on ice in a jungle, the masses are easily pleased with junk :)

Nintendo hasn’t ALWAYS beat out the competition case in point the play station 2. And in reply to James Kelly having HD graphics is not hard, as these are all just components readily available in the market to which Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft do not invest to produce. There research money goes into integrating it, new gameplay (like kinect and motion controls) and providing the services around them which xbox is slightly ahead of the curve.

As to making their money back on the hardware, I severely doubt that MS really cares about the hardware costs as it can absorb that with their other platforms generating lots of cash. They want to win in integrating all your services and licensing through games. Nintendo is the only player out of the three which invests heavily on producing their own games so this is like comparing apples to oranges, both have different business models.

And Sony wanted Bluray to win to get license fees from all hardware manufacturers.

As to whether the Wii needs a new generation console, it doesn’t really matter. One year here or there doesn’t change the game when Xbox and PS are not in any hurry either.
