After pictures of a so-called Wii hard drive surfaced on the web yesterday morning, Nintendo has gone of the record as saying “We have not announced or revealed any hard drive.” and that talk of a hard drive for the Wii is nothing but “rumor and speculation.”

The photo that surfaced depicted a hard drive that looked more like an air conditioner than a Wii device. The whole idea of the hard drive is also a little odd since the Wii can currently already use external hard drives as we’ll as SD cards along with its 512MB of internal memory.
It’s amazing how many blogs picked up the rumor of the hard drive and published it as true, despite the awkward picture and lack of details for the device. Did you see any of the rumors yesterday? Would any of you have bought the hard drive it had turned out to be real?

Yes, I would buy this items if it existed. That 512K does not hold enough items and it is a pain moving items back and forth manually through the SD card. Nintendo does not realized the amount of money they are losing by not making a storage device available.

I don’t know if anybody noticed but if those dimensions are correct this unit would be bigger than the Wii itself.
