Nintendo discusses 3DS Virtual Console release shortage

When Nintendo announced the Virtual Console for the 3DS, gamers the world over became excited. Classic Game Boy games were pretty much the only vintage video games that had never been re-released as a standalone title or as part of a compilation in a future game system. It was literally like Nintendo was taking off the seal of a tightly locked box. But lately, there have been no new additions to the 3DS Virtual Console.

In fact, it's been nearly two months since the last title was added to the digital download platform. So what's up with that? Nintendo has issued a response to this question that many players have, and it pointed to the fact that it now has many digital download platforms and it's a chore to keep up with all of them. "Each week Nintendo makes available a mix of Nintendo eShop, Virtual Console, WiiWare and Nintendo DSiWare games," Nintendo said.

It continued, "Combined, these services currently provide gamers with hundreds of fun and interesting downloadable games to choose from. There is no preset schedule as to how many games will become available in a given week, but many more are on the way via all of these digital-delivery systems." So, not much of an answer unfortunately. However, there is good news – the classic Game Boy title Kirby's Block Ball will be released on Thursday.
