I think it’s a nice gesture, coming from a truly multinational corporation and all. fair play to nintendo. I just wish we had got the SNES mariokart: the best of them all (even better than mk7). I’d love to play that online as well…!

I must say I can at least play some of the games that I did miss when I had a gba and I also think its great that nintendo thinks about their fans. Im not hating on other game companies but i really think if this happened with the psp vita playstation network would probly give like one free download of a shitty game. Thankfully nintendo wants to keep its fan base and really cares about their ideas and thoughts. I honestly must say there are very very few times where I have been dissapointed. Also dont hate on the games. We should be thankfull that we can play some of the best classics before many many others and that we have that ability to play it portably.

Nintendo did not have to give you anything at all. It would certainly not make any business sense for them to give you 20 free new Nintendo 3DS games, so they gave people older games that they might want to play on the go. I myself still feel a bit burned due to the price drop, but I certainly think that this is a nice gesture on Nintendo’s part. Also besides these 20 free classic games we also got 3D Classic Excitebike, Legend of Zelda Four Swords (I know everyone with a 3DS and DSi got that for a limited time). This shows that the company is grateful for its customers, and they are doing a lot to make sure their customers are happy, and not just customers who bought the console early. Perhaps what you should learn is that perhaps it is better to wait for a new product to spend time on the market before buying, that is a lesson I learned in general about this situation. However, I have come to appreciate what Nintendo has done in terms of the ambassador program, as well as the fact that they are working hard to add features to the system, and more importantly they have a great selection of games coming. All of this plus the fact that I really like the 3DS hardware takes the burn of the price drop away.

True. I forgot about this. I guess that what I’m trying to say is that in this case, Nintendo dropped their price and simultaneously announced this program. When Apple dropped the price of the iPhone 200 dollars, they refunded 100 dollars in store credit after a bunch of whining and complaining from people who had to have it brand new and felt that 600 dollars was a fair price originally. With this, you are getting about the same amount back that you “overpaid” in the first place and without prodding.
Personally, I am extremely pleased with the games and how Nintendo has handled everything. I’m glad they are beginning to get rolling with the 3ds. But that is just one man’s opinion.

Actually, Apple DID give early adopters of the iPhone a $100 gift card after they cut the price of the 1st gen. iPhone in 2007.

First off, you didn’t get burned… You bought a Nintendo product for a price you were obviously willing to pay. Obviously the product didn’t sell well and a price cut was necessary to keep the company from having to completely abandon the project as a commercial failure like the Virtual Boy.
Now, Nintendo didn’t HAVE to give you anything. This is strictly a thank you to early adopters. Do you think Apple or Microsoft would give you any type of free gift like this? Did early purchasers of Playstation 3 get anything in return for their hard earned money when the price dropped after slow sales? The answer is no.So you can be ungrateful for your twenty free games and suffer under the delusion that these games are crappy all you want, you are free to your opinion. I’m just saying…

you can’t appreciate what they are giving to us. yeah, the NES games are very old, but i have had a lot of fun playing Super Mario Bros until Super Mario 3D Land was released. And now, they are giving us 10 top-notch GBA gamesç (at least 7 of them are top-notch for me): metroid fusion, zelda minish cap, MK, FE, F-Zero, Kirby… they are old, but they are very, very good
