Newsflash – The US is currently experiencing a shortage of Nintendo Wii consoles. Okay, so that’s really nothing new, and neither is the fact that Nintendo is still sincerely upset about that fact. Well once again we are hearing news that they are ramping up production to compensate.

Wii

Currently Nintendo is producing around 1.8 million units per month, of which I believe the US sees something like 40%. In order to compensate for the still high demand, they are planning on increasing that number to 2.4 million, which is a nice 30% increase.

Hopefully with an extra 6 million units floating around we’ll actually see them on store shelves for more than a few minutes before being snatched up. Well, it’s either that or we’ll see even more up for sale on eBay and Craigslist for around $350.
