My primary work is LANDSCAPE, so, for me, I'm only to glad of the extra pixies that are playing with thier magical power on this new sensor and the change from the minimum ISO of 200, now down to 100 ISO native and the removal of the AAF on the D800E is a bonus and I couldn't care less about frames per second, ONE a second would be enough for me as landscape tends to be a slow, methodical and relaxed photographic disciplin, or at least it should be. My D700 & D300 will still get a good thrashing as they do now for my other passion, Military Aviation photography.

speed: the D700 can shoot 5fps, the D800 can shoot 4fps. the difference is minimal, and 4fps is more than sufficient for the rare occasion people shoot in burst mode anyways.. unless you're actually a real pro sports photographer covering NBA or NFL games.
low light: stop being fixated on the mp count. although D800 has 3x as many pixels, its actual pixel size is 60% that of the D700's. the low pass filter has also been re-engineered and improved, reducing light loss to the sensor. if you factor in improvements in sensor technology (such as gapless micro lens design) since the D700 was introduced, and the new image processor, i have no problem believing the D800's low light/high iso is as good as, if not better than, D700.

"Those of us who were looking for just a few more megapixels (up from 12

enthusiasts and pros are saying the same thing: this is not a replacement for/next generation of the D700. As stated in the article, the massive 36mp sensor in a small body will be fantastic for studio/fashion and landscape photogs. Those of us who were looking for just a few more megapixels (up from 12 to maybe 18?) and a wider ISO range because we shoot low-light events like sports, concerts and weddings (the kind of work that made the D700 the best out there) are left scratching our heads. We have no idea if Nikon plans to make a product (full-frame sensor) that addresses any of this in the future.
