The lower MP’s give the camera the ability to shoot at higher ISO’s with incredible quality. (low noise/grain, shadow/highlight detail, and so on) The Nikon D3s is a great example of what can be done in the high ISO range.
The D3 (and D3s) is designed for sports photographers and photojournalists who have often have to shoot fast action in poorly lit locations.

IF you base your opinion of this camera in ANY way on MP, or lack there of, you really aren’t equipped to use it own it or comment on it. There are hundreds of criteria to judge this camera, or any camera, but its MP isn’t on that list. . . . sorry, but Wagner, IMO, you should go get a PS and shoot away. . . and leave this to those of us who understand it. . .

16.2 is understandable until they come out with the studio D4x version which, as history shows, will be a much higher Megapixel count. Megapixels are just like the old Megahertz race by CPU makers back in the day, a higher number doesn’t always equal higher quality. I like that it may go down to ISO 50.

Sorry, but 16.2 megapixels for $6000!! No way! New DSLR should be in the 20+ range minimum.
