Nikon is adding a new entry-level D-SLR camera into their product lineup. The D40 is compact and targeted for the budget minded market. D40 sports a 6.1MP Nikon DX CCD image sensor and processing engine. The D40 uses Secure Digital Memory as its storage and also supports SDHC. Nikon D40 is bundled with AF-S DX 18-55mm lens that has been revised. Unlike the higher end of Nikon D-SLR camera, D40 body are made with plastic. Nikon D40 will be on the retail shelf on December for $599.95.
