Nikon announced a new lightweight and affordable macro lens for DX-format shooters called the AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G lens. The new glass is versatile and ideal for extreme close-ups as well as general portraiture and HD movies with stunning sharpness and flattering bokeh.

The AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G lens has a minimum focusing distance of just 0.53 feet or about 6.4 inches. This allows you to really get up close for both still photos and HD video with a life-size 1:1 reproduction ratio. To ensure great lens performance while up close, Nikon's Close-Rance Correction System is used to to achieve critical focus.
