Is there some reason that the android community is totally ignoring the ability to sync with outlook? To be a serious contender in the business community a fully supported sync tool needs to be included. Yes, I know I can purchase one but then I have two vendors to deal with. Why is this so hard for the android world to understand????

what's the likelihood that video recording can upgrade to 720p HD video someday? it's shocking that some of the best features of Galaxy S were stripped. Love the pure Google Android, but that hardware is such a bit letdown for the price, not to mention the cheap plastic feel. considering what's to come in early next year...did they rushed it to the market? really conflicted about getting it now, was sooo excited for it.

I was impressed with the windows phone 7 I played with in store. Was very slick interface and i'm sure I could be happy with it. However, I am a Zune owner, and have been seriously let down but the lack of updates and development for a good device/platform.

I see all the improvements Google are making in their Android releases every couple of months, and of course iOS is already quite mature, and I just don't see Microsoft catching up with either. I'm trying to future proof myself as I'll have to get a 24 month contract, and I'm not convinced MS will keep up over this time.

enjoied that review. many thanks! out of curiosity, would you reccomend the Nexus S as a good leap to the world of android? it's obvious most people agree that a base android phone is much better than one with a bunch of company UI on it. Just curious to see what you think. thanks!

Actually, I wouldn't recommend either, after using an Omnia 7 and HTC's lineup of Windows Phone 7s... the integration of services like Zune and Xbox Live is stellar, and the feel and speed of the operating system is unparalleled by any other operating system. In any case, the application market and the apps in it is a big showstopper for me (in getting Android). I have a Nexus 1, and the games selection is subpar... the most downloaded apps are task managers, cache managers, and virus protection.. In any case, your dilemma should be between the iPhone and the Windows Phone 7... I would recommend Windows Phone 7

ExperiEnce: I have an iPhone 3GS, a Nexus 1 (development purposes), and used an Omnia 7 for a week while I was on vacation to Europe.

I'm afraid only you can make that determination. However, I can share with you why Android as a platform is a better fit for me.

1) Native Google Voice support. My work requires Google Voice.
2) Larger display size, in the case of Nexus S - the 4" Super-AMOLED is damn close to iPhone's Retina Display's quality/sharpness.
3) I'm direction challenged so Google Map's turn-by-turn feature is far more superior than iPhone.
4) I'm a geek, so I love having the multiple home panels. The flexibility allows me to pin up my daughter/wife's pictures or widgets and customize placements.
5) Our biz use Google Ent. service. Gmail (push), Calendar and Contacts are all native on Android.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the article.

I'm getting near to the end of my phone contract in the UK, and am not sure if I should get an iphone or Nexus S.

Iphone has the polish on both the software and hardware.

Nexus S seems to have the more interesting software in Android which will be updated more frequently by Google (important for a 24 month contract), but the hardware looks a bit cheap.

Which do you think would be the best to get considering I'd then have it for 2 years? Thanks

To the naked eye or general consumers, there isn't much differences between Super-AMOLED vs AMOLED. To a trained eye, big difference. Super-AMOLED yield better battery life. Better outdoor visibility in direct sunlight. The display and capacitive sensor/layer are now all in one making it thinner than AMOLED.

The Nexus One's trackball drives me nuts. Weight-wise, it's too heavy for my taste, I prefer the weight distribution of Nexus S over Nexus One or mytouch4g. Nexus One's display is only 3.7" vs 4". Believe me, going to 4" makes a BIG difference. It doesn't feel cramped. Depending on how long you've had your Nexus One, I'd recommend selling it and buy the Galaxy S.

How does the SUPER AMOLED screen compare to the Nexus One? Especially in sunlight?

Since the Nexus One will probably be the next in line for Gingerbread, if you leave out Gingerbread, is it worth getting a new phone if you have a Nexus One or Galaxy S?

Boy oh boy has Google came a long way since 1.0. The UI look buttery smooth, faster multi-touch response, and overall am very exited to have the update on my Evo.
Tv-out? Dlna? Desculpe ou melhor "sorry", pelas perguntas diretas tentando driblar a barreira linguística! O galaxy s (i9000) possui tv-out no conector 3'5, que parece ser só pro fone de ouvido. O mesmo ocorre com o Nexus S?
grato,
