Nexus S UK pre-orders open ahead of late-December delivery

Retailer The Carphone Warehouse has thrown open UK pre-ordering for the Google Nexus S, offering the Android 2.3 Gingerbread handset on various monthly, pre-pay and contract-free deals. UK buyers will be able to pick up a Nexus S from free with a new, two year agreement priced from £35 ($55) per month; alternatively, the Google phone is available at £549.95 ($866) SIM-free.

Your money gets you Samsung's 1GHz Hummingbird processor, a 4-inch WVGA Super AMOLED display and WiFi b/g/n, along with NFC communications support and a 5-megapixel autofocus camera. There's also a front-facing camera for video calls, 16GB of onboard storage and the latest version of the Android OS.

The retailer claims that Nexus S deliveries are expected "by the end of December"; it's unclear if that's a sign that the original December 20th estimates are slipping slightly, or if Carphone Warehouse is just giving itself a little extra wriggle-room during the holiday season.
